That's nothing new on Gun Broker so it seems.

I've spotted many items advertised "NIB" that show all kinds of wear like full blown turn lines on cylinders to scuffs that tell of holster wear.

Considering the new M586 lists for $839 and you want a pre-lock version I guess $750 isn't outrageous, but high IMO. Just to mention, Buds Gun Shop online has a brand new 6" M586 for $742 including S&H.

If it were me I would pass on this one and wait for a more reasonable price. You are paying for the writing on the side of the barrel which means nothing to you since you intend to shoot it.

To me, the writing on the side, would detract from the price, and my desire for the firearm, not add. Seeing as how a new one can be had for less(at least around here) I personally see no reason to pay more for a used firearm. That writing on the side is much uglier than the small hole of the IL. Add to that, the fact that S&W has for the most part other than recalls, quit giving free service under warranty for non-original owners. This means if the gun is going to be a long time regular shooter, any repairs will come outta your pocket. Buy a new gun and the repairs and the shipping to and fro, are on S&Ws dime.

Finally i won a bid on an excellent prelock 586 in 6 inch barrel yesterday. It was sort of a christmas present for me. This one was deep blue with nice wood grips. Looking to have it in two weeks at my FFL's shop.

And i got it for a good price of $600 . Shipping and FFL fees will make it $650.

My 586 is just like Rondog's, in almost as good condition, lock model, but without the box. Almost good enough to be a safe queen ( by my standards) but I'll shoot it now and then. Rondog, mine is one of my best shooters...you'll be rewarded greatly if you start shooting it. I paid $595.

So I'd say the OP's potential gun is priced about right, except that prices seem very low right no. Up to you, once the glut in the market is over, the long term value won't be affected. I'm not really into guns that I can NEVER shoot though. Good luck.
