Sportsman's Warehouse Falls In Line...

I couldn’t agree more, as long as people will pay twice the price for the same thing, you would be a fool to not sell it to them at twice the price.

Not really a free market though, so things are not exactly self leveling…
I’m not buying anymore primers at $80! it’s $80 everywhere and available at like a dozen shop. So if I do need something special primers, I’ll go back to buying sleeves at a time at my local shop, keep them in busniess.

I’m bitter at Sportsman! not like I didn’t buy other stuff too! guns, candy, bullets, mags, dies, tool, fishing gear!

primers brought me in that shop at lease 2x a week

I have a reloading buddy that's constantly looking for primers, and powder when he uses up the one or two bottles he has. I've been telling him for a couple of years now to stock up, but he doesn't.

Funny thing is, he is always selling or trading a gun to get a new/different gun. He bought a Mini-14 not too long ago, took it out for one range trip, and traded it off. It usually costs him $100 or more to do these trades, that could have been a lot of primers over the last couple of years.

I have to take my GF for a doctors appt in January, and plan to stop at SW then. I'll be going past it around Thanksgiving as well, and may stop then as well.

If their prices went up, oh well. I'm stocked up for awhile at least.

save yourself 1/2 a trip and buy the 1500 count focaccia primers, they got SPP & SRP

Have any of you ever worked for retail? If the cost of buying wholesale goes up, what do you expect the stores to do??

Been to the grocery store lately?? Bunch of old hens complaining over the cost of milk, eggs and whatever else.:cuss:

it’s all Rigged! Follow the money! follow the corruption! follow the greed!

if Sportsman could sell $60 for 4 years included last week. They can today. 33% increase = no way Jose!

Look at the prices online, Plus add shipping and hazmat

It is not rigged or corrupt

Open your own store.

Good! because I bought way too much SPM cci
There’s been a few threads on the subject and while opinions vary regarding the efficiency of using magnum primers with small loads of quick igniting powder, there is little evidence that it doesn’t “work” in almost every pistol cartridge. I’m always hesitant to use a magnum primer with a powder likely Competition or Red Dot but I have tested it in the .32S&W and did not get any crossovers from deflagration to detonation. But that is a concern as you approach 90% air gap.

Did you ever consider that maybe Sportsman’s had entered into a long term contract with primer suppliers at a set price, and then given the unexpected run on ammunition, allowed the producers to delay the promised quantities and extend the term? And, as part of the renegotiation, agreed to keep the original pre pandemic price agreed upon. That could explain why SW was able to maintain their much lower retail prices so long (as well as their spotty supply).
Instead of whining about Sportsman’s Warehouse raising prices, maybe you should be grateful that they provided an opportunity for you to stock up at decent prices.

Yup. I still get eggs from the chicken farm down the road but even he is raised his prices to the stores. Now I’m not saying $3!!! a dozen is unreasonable - the farmer has expenses and he’s not exactly living in a MacMansion driving a Mercedes Benz or anything - but it’s not like three years ago when prices spiked from foolish people overbuying then wasting food.
Complaining sure doesn’t help though.

There was a thread not long ago with a link to a guy on you tube that explained the whole price increase pretty well Eco 101.
Maybe someone can remember it? it and find it.

It's purely supply and demand. People have to stop paying those prices and let demand drop a bit. As far as pricing goes, if everyone (CCI/distributors/stores) were making money selling primers for $30 per brick 3 years ago, then they are making even more money (taking into account inflation) selling at $60 today. We all know inflation has been horrible the last couple of years, but there is simply no justification from an inflation perspective for primers to have more than doubled in price. It's purely that they are trying to charge what they think (or know) people are willing to pay. Until people stop paying these crazy prices, they will simply not drop.

We can always guest at when, were, why… but I don’t trust corporations! But I can trust that Greed/profit was absolutely behind their Shenanigans!

Yes, about fifteen years now. Got a few more years before I can fully retire.

I expect them to raise prices to cover their costs and continue to make a profit. I don't have to like it, but I have to accept it. I usually have the option to shop elsewhere, not always, but usually.

I don't make the rules, I just play the game.

I was a fairly new reloader when all this stuff (price increases and shortages) started and so wasn't prepared. I did have plenty of factory ammo since I've been through all that mess several times. I am prepared now for a continuing reloading supply shortage, or a new reloading supply shortage. I do feel for the new shooters and new reloaders.

Mic DROP! 1,000 percent! go ahead and close the thread CUZ we have a winner

Yes, this thread can totally be closed now that it's just debating economics.

The news is out so there's nothing left to discuss.

I fully expect you to return every dime you ever made above bare minimum cost. And especially if you were indulging in such luxury as three meals a day, including meat. A bowl of rice, a mud hut and a bicycle is all you need. Anything more is pure greed.
I think I’m done with this. The pro commie tone is a little disturbing.

to each their own.

i’m just venting, my source of primer is gone.

It's called debasement of a currency. A house in San Jose,Ca used as a meth lab, which hasn't been detoxed,is listed at $1.5 million.
