I have been wanting a Springfield GI for a couple weeks now and I can't find one locally. I guess I am going to have to order one. Does it have the ILS system too? I am guessing it does.

ILS

Integral Locking System. It's in the mainspring housing. Using a key, you can deactivate the pistol so it won't fire.

It can be replaced with a std mainspring housing. I changed mine out, but kept the parts in case I ever sell the pistol; which is inlikely, it's a shooter. :)

No firing pin safety in the SA 1911.

tinroad37e, unless you have great eyesight I would go with the Milspec. Why? I can no longer use GI sights and the MilSpec sights work for me. Regards, Richard:)

Not to hijack, but is this all SAs, or only the GI (maybe mil-spec)?

And, since I'm debating getting something similar soon enough.....if you were to buy a 1911 with those tiny GI sights, how hard would it be to get a gunsmith to dovetail the slide and get new sights on there?
