I found a good deal on a Springfield XD 40 Bi-tone. I have a few .22lr and a 9mm, so 40 S&W is a whole different world to me. I am not looking for a bashing thread here. I am looking to learn something. Please give me the pros and cons of this tool. Any advice you great folks have for me would be great.

Wow 20 some people have looked at this and not one person has nothing good or bad to say. Did I do something wrong here?

I have had an XD-40 service since 2007. It has over 3,000 rounds through it with no malfunctions. It just works. Some folks complain about .40 caliber recoil being snappy. My only 9mm is a Kel Tec P11 (the P-11 only weighs 14 ounces unloaded) so I don't think I am really qualified to compare the 2. The biggest drawback I would see is .40 caliber range ammo at Wal Mart is around $15.00 a box where 9mm can be found here for about $10.50 a box. The XD is a good solid pistol.

I had an XD-40 subcompact, now I have an XDm-40 3.8". I find the XD series to have less felt recoil than their main 2 competitors, and ergonomically they are fantastic. Pros are the way it feels in the hand and the way it shoots. Pro to me and con to others is the grip safety; I find it to be an endearing feature and other think it is a bad idea. Con, if you are planning to CC, is it is thicker than a lot of other choices.

What I tell everyone else is, give the XD a try! It may be right for you, but if it isn't it's a MACHINE, get something that works. Another plus in your case is you have found a DEAL; a great bargain pulls a lot of weight in an otherwise equal decision.
