My serial number is 6045xx with a born date of 1 11 06. I was holding out for a tactical model when I saw this used but unfired service model for too good a price to pass ($430). The more I handle it, the more it grows on me. Makes a perfect ccw pistol, much thinner in the hand than the Glock 21. Between this and the new Smith M&P, Glock had better watch out. Looks like they picked a poor time for their "let's introduce a new product, nah let's not" fiasco, huh?:D

My only complaint is I'd like to be able to reduce the trigger take-up length. I think Springfield's Custom shop will do a "Custom Carry" detail that reduces the trigger pull to 4.5-5.5 lbs and shortens the take-up. I thought the trigger was nice and crisp though, not sure I can justify spending another $215 on the custom work. Enjoyed it soo much I'm thinking of getting a 9mm...:)
Check out Canyon Creek. They do a 4# trigger job that also adjusts pretravel/reset/over travel for $135. It's the best you can do for your XD, and everyone says it's better than the Springfield custom shop job.

My XD-40 is going off to them next week!

My XD-45 ACP Serial Number: 6203XX

Aren't they awesome?!

XD .45 ACP Available in CA yet?

I can't seem to find the new XD45 on the list of "approved" handguns on the DOJ site. I know they'll be limited to 10rd magazines, but I haven't been able to find any information about such a beast. My wife has an XD9 and it is a great shooting gun. My Para LDA in .45 ACP is fantastic, but I have a jones for the XD in .45 ACP.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Ive had mine for about a month now and put 400 rounds through it. Cleaning it very well after every outing. This is going to be my main carry CCW once my licance arrives in the mail. Not a single problem with it and its dead nutts accurate! I have heard that some people's sights arent spot on.. and that got me worried but at 45 yards i was hitting the canister of a TIKKI tourch (i was at a cinder pit, no where to hang a target). I dont plan on getting the trigger job done. Ill probubly keep it the way it is. But im extreamly happy with it. Once i get my new Hume "agent" Holster ill be set. Just another member of the XD-.45acp Fan club i guess.:D

Me Too

I too just picked one up $539 OTD including taxes. I contemplated it for a week now only by looking here and on GA and GB. So I hear an Advertisment on the radio for the local friendly gun shop. I had to exchange a scope cap cover anyway. Low and behold they had one. Thought about the M&P 40 and I'm glad I held out cause as soon as I held it and cycled the M&P I really didn't care for it. Then I saw it. The XD45. I said, May I? She said sure. I asked if this came with the xtras and she said, "yep they are right here" I looked and fondled some more. I said ok, thank you. As she started to put it back she made the comment that it was the last one. Well that was all it took and she was honest too. I brought it home. CArried it all day today and still have not shot it. It just keeps clling my name...."MIKE.....shoot me.....please....."
I like it, though I'll probably put a laser or light on it with a different holster.

Serial # 6074XX

Picked up my XD-45 yesterday. S/N612XXX. $499 NIB with all the goodies (holster, loader, mag pouch - Oh! and the gun).

With all the good feedback here, I'm really looking forward to getting this thing out to the range this week.

SA XD-45 ACP Magazines Not Stainless Steel

Greetings All:

Check your magazines that were supplied with YOUR XD 45s? Are any of them "magnetic"? Magnets do not adhere to either of my magazines. I'm thinking that they are aluminum?

All the same, I really like my XD-45 ACP. I can't wait for the 3" model. :what:

I purchased the XD45

Jan 25th and have run about 300 rounds through so far. I like the feel it does point shoot well. I have noticed that it is tough to get the mag in with 13 rounds. I usually just load 12, anyone else have this problem. I have also noticed a mark on my extractor from the casing head. Part of a circle on the breechface that lines up with the diameter of the case head. Never had a failure to feed with anything I have shot, WWB, SXT and MFS ammo. Also, the belt slide holster needs a large belt. I have ordered a holster but purchased a cheap Fobus paddle that does work better then the gear holster.

I sometimes visit a range that has an XD45 for rent. Might give it a try. The narrower, longer grip (than the G21) probably won't appeal to me too much, but I'm certainly willing to give it a try.

"Um......ah....... regular household magnets are not attracted to Stainless Steel. There is not enough carbon in stainless to be attracted to a magnet."

Depends on the steel. Higher grade stainless is non-magnetic, while the stuff used for firearms generally is magnetic stainless. I think non-magnetic may be harder and more brittle than magnetic and is unusable in high-stress firearm components. Non-magnetic stuff could be used in the mags though I bet.

Stainless magnetic?

• Just bought an XD-45, Service Model yesterday, S/N 6124XX. The fired case was dated 03/02/06. Can hardly wait until next weekend to take it to the range.

The magazines appear to be 300-series stainless steel. I tried a 1/2" diameter x 1/4" thick common Radio Shack magnet, and it didn't 'stick'. I then tried another similar shape and size, but this one was NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron) and it stuck, but I believe it was sticking to the spring inside the magazine.

• Of the five main types or families of stainless steels, only Austenitic is non-magnetic (but may become slightly magnetic through cold-working). Some examples of each:
1) Austenitic – 303, 304, 316, 317
2) Martensitic – 410, 420, 440A, 440B, 440C, 416
(440C is commonly used for knives, and 416 is commonly used for gun barrels)
3) Ferritic – 430, 444, 409
4) Duplex – 2304, 2205
5) Precipitation Hardening – 17-4PH

Hope this helps.

loader rails and xd number of parts

the rails on the speed loader is for the mag-holder.
speaking of parts, it's got more for sure compared to the glocks because it's got more safety features.

My buddy picked one up a couple of weeks ago.Since then he has bought the fobus holster cause the factory one is hard to pull out.He has bought new mag holsters cause they are not comfortable. And has asked the gun shops around town how much they would give him on a trade for the gun.Cause he realizes it dont compare to glock like he and others thought it would. The ban wagon is not safe.

Give them time, I wouldn't be surprised if XD-45acp subcompacts were on the shelves before the end of 07.

I bought a XD 45 5in "Tactical" today. Paid $529 plus tax, but the dealer gave me 3 boxes of CCI aluminum case 230gr Blazer ammo with it. Stopped by the range on the way home and ran all 150 rounds thru it without even cleaning it first. No malfunctions at all. I like the balance and the natrual point of the gun very much, I'm not really wild about the trigger.. but I guess my worked 1911's have me spoiled in that area. I think I'm going to run 1,000 rounds or so thru it and then send it to Canyon Creek for one of their trigger jobs.

Also, a question for the other people that have the 5in models... does it seem like the front sight blade is too thin as compared to the opening in the rear sight? The "gap" on each side of the front blade just seems too large for my taste.

You guyz are killin' me! I just shot an IDPA match in Clinton, NC, and this guy had an XD 45ACP Tactical. He let me fondle it... dang it! The trigger reset is identical to my XD9. They are sweet! I forsee one for me in the not-so-distant future!
