State Friendly to Guns?

Alabama is pretty good. Aside from the fact that CCW is still 'may issue', which is really wierd, but never a problem to get, everything about that state is EASY EASY as far as firearms are concerned.

It's not too late for states to try and change that. Imagine a country minus the likes of NY, NJ, CT, MA, IL, DC, CA for starters with the possibility of MD, RI, western OR, western WA.
Nice polite, politically incorrect states that believe in the WHOLE of the Constitution, along with things like "please", 'Yes, Ma'am", and "No Sir"..........

Kansas is seriously underrated. :D

I don't know about your state but my state is passing pro-gun legislation every month.

It really depends on what your particular firearms interests are. It could be that an overall rating is almost meaningless to you. For example, suppose a state has "shall-issue" concealed carry, open carry, etc., but doesn't allow machine guns. If your main interest is in collecting machine guns, it doesn't do you any good if the state is rated highly due to its laws on concealed carry. (A converse example is Maryland, which is not bad when it comes to machine guns, but is terrible on everything else.)

Yep, for the moment us folks here in Az, are on top, but who knows what the future holds for us? Having spent nearly my whole life in Az. and a few in New Mexico, I can't imagine what it would be like to have a bunch of restrictive gun laws dumped on me after all those years of living free.

I think Alaska has to win for

A) pro gun laws (constitutional carry, no state restrictions on SBRs and other Class III stuff, and the like), which puts it in the running with a lot of other states. What puts it over the top are:

B) Higher per capita carry of handguns for defensive purposes than anywhere else in the nation (admittedly, a lot of that is four legged predator defense, but it's still carry) and

C) Only state in the nation where a decent sized chunk of the populace survive based largely on what they can put in the pot with rifle and shotgun. Guns are a way of life in many parts of Alaska in a way they haven't been in the Lower 48 for at least a few generations.

Yeah, I think Alaska wins. Hands down.

How does alaska compare with cost of living?

What about having 1800 miles of canada separating it from the rest of the united states?

Those two factors would seem to limit the number of people that would find it desirable to live there.

Oregon is pretty good.

Open carry is legal, you can CC anywhere except federal buildings or courthouses, shall issue CC, no assault weapon or magazine bans, etc etc.

The only bad thing about Oregon that I just recently learned is they don't honor any other state's concealed carry permits. Wanna CC in Oregon, gotta have an Oregon permit.
