Steel Ammo Sticking in AR-15

I think we can safely say that there are a number of explanations for why some ARs will not reliably function with steel-cased ammo. Frankly, I think some of these are real and some may be a bit imaginary. However, what causes YOUR particular AR to not function with steel-cased ammo is an unknown. If this matters to you, I'd try simple fixes first and hope you find a cure. Replacing the barrel entirely seems costly and extreme if the only benefit derived from it would be the ability to shoot cheaper ammo. For me, replacing the BCG (with a top-notch Daniel Defense unit) on my non-chromed carbine solved my problem with steel-cased ammo. I suppose my original BCG just had a weak extractor. Anyway, that option may work for you, or perhaps your issue is entirely different. Good luck with it, but I wouldn't sweat it either.

It's carbon build-up a often noted reult of shooting steel cased ammo, all you have to do is look at the fired cases to see that the carbon is flowing into the chamber.
