Greetings to all!

Looking for a list of handguns that have the following specifications:
- Steel frame and slide (Edit - Can also be Aluminum frame)
- Hammer fired
- DA/SA trigger
- Decocker
- Barrel smaller than 4"
- 12 + round capacity

I know the P229, and the CZ 75 P01 meet this criteria, but what else is out there? Thanks in advance.

The Smith and Wesson 5906 would count.

The Hungarian company FEG made a series of steel-framed pistols loosely based on the Smith and Wesson Model 59 such as the B9R and P9R which meet the criteria.

There are high-capacity variants of the Russian Makarov, some of which I believe did use a decocker safety.

The Italian firm Tanfoglio has made some compact variants of their CZ-based Witness pistols with steel frames and decockers.

Both the SIG P229 and the CZ P01 have aluminum frames.

CZ does have steel framed compacts though. https://cz-usa.com/product-category/handguns/75-compact-series/

Yep, as much as I love my SIG M-11 A-1 (an "upgraded" P229) I'm pretty sure it has an aluminum-alloy frame. It does have a stainless steel slide though, as well as all of the other features the OP is looking for.

Great list! Thanks for sharing. Didn't know about these guns. I liked the S&W 5906 a lot, but doing some research on it (thanks to you), I stumbled upon the S&W 6906 with a 3.5" Barrel. Looks veeeery tempting!

I have a 6906, and it’s the bees knees. Also have a 5904 (I think that’s right), which is, basically a DAO 5906. Both are slim marvels, compared to my 229(40), which seems like a tank.

Nice! :)

The DAO variant of a 5906 would be, I think, a 5946, if it is all-stainless steel. (I do not claim to be an expert on S&W Third-Generation auto model numbers.) I have, thus far, kept to the single-column-magazine 9mm models, except for a brief fling with a finicky Shorty Forty, in the Nineties, though I have first dibs on a relative’s 6906, if she decides to trade.

In CZ you have
Alloy frame
P01
PCR...P01 minus the rail
Both are decockers
Also is a P01 omega...You can swap back and forth to decock or safety.

Steel frame
Cz75 compact.....safety
P01.....Safety only....made in small batches
Cz75 compact decocker...pretty rare gun

Also have the Rami which could found in either safety or decock.

If you want to open your wallet, head to CZ custom and buy an A01 compact.

If not for the round requirement my S&W model 39-2 might work for you. Just about 8 months ago I gave my youngest son a S&W model 915 9mm with 15 round mags. It was a DA/SA economy version of a model 59 I think. I had a matt finish similar to a model 28. Mine was a former cops gun that had had a trigger job on it and that was a slick shooting gun. My son really likes it too. I had two extra factory to go with it that also fit my Marlin Camp Carbine. I told him that when I croak I want him to have that gun to go with the pistol. He wants to know whats taking me so long. I can always feel the love. :(

Except for approx. 900 examples made for a CA LE contract which fell through, all Model 39s had aluminum frames. These command a premium, but being early no-dash postols, they use the fragile long extractor.
There were, of course steel-framed 2nd gen versions of the 39, but these were all single-stacks and I think the OP is looking for high-cap.

Are you talking about 900 model 915s or 900 model 39s? The model 915 also had the aircraft grade aluminum frame, same as used for aircraft landing gear per S&W.

I'll give you credit. You know more about them than I do. I have never seen a 39 no dash before. I was given my 39-2 by a man we cleaned his office and home for. I got the gun with the last 18 rounds of the only box of ammo that had been shot through it. I have since corrected that low count use. It has had several hundred rounds down the pipe with only one malfunction. I let a guy that stood 6'4" shoot it and he held like like a little girl and caused a stove pipe. But he had never shot a gun before so after a little instruction had no further problems.

When I took my CC class I shot all 50 rounds into a ragged hole at 15 yards. I did have two shots just barley outside the ragged hole. My group was the talk of the class. This gun shoots like the model 52 target gun and does it with RN range ammo. This gun will never be sold or given away. Its mine till the end. I have a total of 4 mags for it too.
