Itchy to add a new handgun and I want a 9mm full size steel frame, hammer fired, DA/SA. Is there any new release production handgun made of steel frame these days? I googled, only find Walther Q5, a competition handgun, cost $1K, looks like a striker fired. All my handguns are metal frames, except a Ruger 22/45, majority steel except a Taurus 92 and a Sig P6 with aluminum frames. I have CZ, EAA, BHP, 1911s, popular steel frames already. Don't have any polymer striker fired handguns, just like old fashioned metal DA/SA hammer guns, not saying which is better.

I don't know of any new metal hammer guns except as trivial variations of existing models. I think you are going to have to go "retro."
Lots of third generation Smiths out there, .45 and 10mm less common. Or get serious and scout out an 845 or TSW.

The SAR B6 - a CZ knockoff. The SAR B6P has a polymer frame. I don't think EAA sells the steel SAR B6 and Tanfoglio makes a bunch of steel frame CZ knockoffs so maybe you have the steel-framed CZ clone department covered.

Yes, CZ makes steel-framed pistols. I should have remembered that, I have one. The steel-framed P226 model I'm thinking of is the Stainless Elite.

The SAR B6 interested me, If not because I have 4 CZ75B and Tanfoglio already, I almost get one. The B6 safety operates opposite to my other CZ and clones is another reason I decided not to. All my handguns have safety off when pushed down, B6 is the other way like a slide mounted safety such as S&W and Beretta 92. It is also why I skipped S&W, went Taurus 92 instead of Beretta.

Not a new release but a Beretta 92 fits the bill.

If you mean the Model 92 FS Fusion or the Model 92FS Centennial you would be correct. Both guns have steel frames, were very limited editions, and are rather expensive when they are up for sale (Cabela's has a Fusion for $10,999 while the Centennial is available for $3500). Your everyday Model 92 FS has an aluminum alloy frame and can be had for around $600.

Pardini GT9 is steel frame, I think. I'm not sure about FK Field Pistol, but likely that one too. And Russian MP-446 is a steel framed gun too. You'll have to smuggle it in, while FK and Pardini are available. Finally, Luggerman's Luger is also steel frame. Here you go, 4 more pistols to consider.

CZ and Sig still make all steel pistols but that’s about it. I have a P220 elite stainless in .45 that is all steel. EEA Witness May be steel, and The Jericho Baby Eagles still come in steel. However, these are pretty much CZ based designs. Other than those you would probably have to go with a 1911 where you can choose from literally dozens of brands. I’m always scouting gun stores for used 3rd generation Smith & Wesson’s. They are tanks.

Have you tried the competition-oriented EAA/Tanfoglios? They are a big step up from the garden variety Witness lines. Most of the last decade’s worth of production division USPSA national titles were won with these. There are no better steel framed DA/SA guns than them.

As several others have said, other than what the OP has (and I have all of them too, coincidentally), some of the Third Generation Smiths are what come to my mind.

And yeah, the Beretta 92's and Sig P226/P229's normally have aluminum frames.

Oh... just thought of something. The Star Super B's and BM's are pretty much 1911-ish, but they are steel-framed service pistols.

I’d recommend you look for a decent BHP MK II or MK III. It fits the bill other than the fact that it’s SAO.

I’m hoping FN / Browning has the good sense to bring these back into production before too long!

I started out with a couple polymer Witness pistols and liked them so much that I got a steel-frame 45. Then got a couple of Elite Match pistols. The latest is a Stock 2 that I got a really good deal on it. The Stock 2 isn't what I would call a comp gun, but it has the best trigger of them all and is very accurate for me. They are all SA/DA except for the Elites, they are SA only. I can only imagine how nice the higher-end guns from them are.

Aside from special variants, aren’t both of these guns aluminum framed guns?
Sorry, my fault. When I read steel frame my thinking immediately went to a metal framed, non polymer.

Op has CZ, BHP and 1911's already. My searching for a steel frame 9mm would end with those.

Top’, the Stock 2 is absolutely built for competition. Production class in USPSA and IPSC specifically. That’s a division with a lot of restrictions, so it still works as a “normal” gun too, but it’s definitely built with competition in mind. Those guns have been used for a TON of national and world championships.

Ok, I have never thought of it as a "race gun" with compensators and all that. But I can definitely see it as a great production class gun. I was amazed the first time I shot it just how accurate it was even shooting offhand. I would like to bench rest it some day and see what it will do at 25 yards. I'm just glad I walked into the gun store when it showed up on consignment, hardly used. I got it for a stupid low price. :)

Dont forget the equally rare/pricey/strange looking 92 Billennium.:D

Some of the Turkish steel Tanfoglio clones could technically be considered “new release” with respect to the US market, but will do exactly nothing that your CZs and EAAs don’t already do.

Why not go really retro and pick up one of the surplus Star BM pistols. J&G has them for a limited time for $149. Not DA/SA but lots of fun.

My friend just got one. She sent me a picture and it looks NICE. Hers is in excellent condition and was an absolute steal for that price.

Kahr makes a full size all steel pistol but its a dao style striker.

Ive only shot the small polymer ones but they are very accurate. Certainly would be unique.

While I’m not sure if they’re steel or alloy, and essentially a Sig, and not in current production... There is the Browning BDA. It was made for a few years in a large frame, chambered in .45, 9mm, and .38 Super.
