Well it's been 19 weeks and the STI 1911 9mm I ordered from their Custom Shop has arrived! It was delivered to my FFL exactly on the day promised. What I ordered was an STI Trojan 9mm with just a few changes. First I had the carbon fiber trigger changed to aluminum. Then to clean up the look I had them leave off the STI logo port side, no front serrations, and no Trojan engraved on the nonport side. I had them install the fiber optic front sight and the STI adjustable rear sight. As soon as I got it home I stripped off the thin wood grips and installed Hogue Kingwood stippled grips.
A close look revealed just how good STI's quality is, the barrel ramp was a mirror finish, the slide / frame fit was incredible, as was the barrel and bushing. Not a mark on it, it came in exactly as I wanted, just a plain 1911, just amazing. It cost more than a stock Trojan but I did not want a stock Trojan. Cost was comparable to a Les Baer Premier II, so you do the math.
Sunday the 26th I ran it thru its paces, 259 rounds to be exact. We went to the Bluegrass Sportsmans League pistol pits south of Lexington KY. In the pits you may draw and fire without restrictions, IPSC style. I have included 2 photos of targets one being a double tap on a well used IPSC target, and the other is the first 10+1 (11) rounds down range, both at 12 yards. The trigger is great, sights are easy to read, minimal recoil, and it shoots like a dream. My Glock G34 may be retired, yeah it's retired. Not a single malfunction or misfire, STIs are made to run.

BEAUTIFUL!... I love my trojan. It is the best shooting gun i have ever experienced and i own 1911's from other makers taht cost 3x as much.

Mine's the 6" 9mm and i'll be damned if its not cheating LOL

I've got a Colt Series 70 9mm, a Springer longslide and a SIG 1911 RSC, The STI out shoots them all. Now I can't make excuses.
At 12 yards does your 6" leave powder burns on the target?
I know my government length left a smile on my face but a hole in my wallet. Everyone should own an STI, but I'm glad they don't.
According to STI it is a matte blue (blued), the Spartan is parkerized.

Nice pistol. I also like the plain slide.

I had thought STI was rounding the front strap more on the new versions of the Trojan?

Really nice pistol and I like the options you chose.

Just curious, with the USPSA target you used; are you going to compete with the Trojan? If so, what class?

In USPSA I would have to shoot Limited 10 minor power factor. With my G34 I shoot production class, mid to lower pack. I'm not competitive based on speed, as far as accuracy I am as good as anyone, shot many a stage perfect score. I admired many a 1911 at these matches, including the STIs. They always seem to work and shoot well, I just did not like all the graphics and grooves. Hence my choice of a plain slide Trojan 5.0.

While I can not warm up to the cheap looking fiber optic sights poping up everywhere [and I HOPE they go the way of the 1980's ''hooked'' trigger guards] that is one nicely done pistola, and one can't argue with your results. Saweet!

Thats what we need more pictures of 9mm 1911s, or .45s, .40s, 10mm, maybe even a .38 super! Nice Springfield, My Springer is a Longslide .45 with RoCo grips, I'll post a pic as soon as I can.
Waterhouse, I just could not get it with the graphics, but I had to wait 5 months, pay $250 extra for less and FET on top of that too. Worth every penny IMO.
