I just picked up a new SP101, 2.25" in .357 DAO.

I love it. It's the snub of my dreams! I can finally shoot real 357 Mag loads fairly comfortably from a (nearly) pocket gun.

But, I don't love the factory rubber stocks on it. They feel squirrely and squishy with full power loads. I can feel them twisting in my hand under recoil.

Besides, wheel guns are supposed to have wooden stocks, right?

Who is making nice, concealable wooden stocks for the little Rugers these days?

The stock grips on my SP101 placed the big nuckle of my second finger right up against the back of the trigger guard. Each discharge of 357 felt like a sharp rap from a hammer. I now use a one piece wooden grip by Hogue. Tremendous improvement in comfort and manageability , handsome too! Concealability was not improved ; the Hogue is a bit bulkier than the factory grips ; but shooting is greatly improved.

Geminicustoms.com ....

I like Hogues. I put a Tamer on my Ruger GPNY in 2006. It worked great.
If you like wood, check www.geminicustoms.com or maybe the main Hogue Store.

I owned a SP101 2.25" barrel .357 DAO in the early 1990s. I didn't care for the stock grips either but the choices were slim in the 90s. :(

PS; if you want a red dot laser aimer, CT has a SP101 grip, www.Crimsontrace.com .

I met the Badger fellas at a gun show and saw their display. I am not putting those colors or a grip that so distracts from the gun on any of mine.

I'm going to throw another vote to Badger. I just got a set for my S&W 10-5 snub. Like them a lot. I've had a set for a j-frame for almost 20 years. They still look great and shoot well. BTW, there was a snafu with my last order and the guys were great about getting it straightened out.

You can get this style of grip on Ebay, from several sellers in Thailand. They are around $40 and free shipping. Takes about 3 weeks, but well worth the wait.

And you can also get custom, hand-fit to your revolver, grips from Gemini Customs, but.....they will only make you a set if you get work done.
