On the Saiga forums, I was asked to hammer a poll from the Brady Campaign. I decided "What the heck" and did.

Here is the poll:

I got this e-mail just now from them:

Dear John,

Thank you for participating in our 2007 Legislative Priorities Survey, your feedback will help the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence get a strong start to the new year. We are so grateful for your support.

Capitalizing on the seismic shift on Capitol Hill, your Brady Campaign is going on the offensive to advance our legislative agenda to strengthen US gun laws. Americans are looking to us to turn our electoral victories into concrete action to get guns out of the hands of criminals.

We will succeed in this endeavor in the same way we succeeded in the 2006 elections — by bringing to the fore the voices of reliable, thoughtful Brady Campaign members like you.

Thanks to your participation, we will show that Americans like you demand that strengthening US guns laws be at the top of the congressional agenda.

Help us build on our voting majorities in both the House and Senate to pass a new ban on military-style assault weapons, closing the gun show loophole, and other life-saving gun laws by making a generous contribution today.

By working together, we can create a nation free from gun violence, where all Americans are safe at home, at school, at work, and in their communities.

Sincerely,
Your Friends at StoptheNRA.com

Think I ought to tell them that I am an NRA Life member?

Did the same

And just got the same email response. Do you think they assume what your responses are? I "strongly disagreed" with every question they asked. :neener:

You didn't mention that the phrase "generous contribution" in their letter is a hotlink to their gimme-your-money page. Like that's going to happen. :barf:

Repost, but please COPY and PASTE the link so they don't know where we are comming from.

I was going to e-mail them back and ask them to take me off their e-mail list.... Then I started using my head.

I WANT to know what they are sending people. I WANT to know what campaigns they start and what arguements they are making. So, I suppose I'll have to put up with that stuff cluttering my in-box occasionally.

While their at it why don't they ask to put governors on all cars so they only go 70mph tops. Fast-food places should only serve meals under 700 calories per 1 person considering you eat 3 meals a day. Eliminate vending machines and if you want sweets you have to go underground to get them. It should be against the law for women to wear 6'' stiletto heels and fishnet stockings because it distracts me and may cause me to drive into the car in front of me.:neener:

People should realize that our government is not going to stop at the 2nd weather you condone firearms or not.:banghead:

Wow! I guess they didn't really intend that to be a real survey? Based on the letter I received, it seems they went into the whole endeavor with a preconceived idea of what they wanted the polls outcome to be. I'm surprised. I mean, they never lie.

And why would they use a survey as a ruse to generate income. That's disingenuous. It doesn't compute. It must be some sort of evil NRA trick to discredit the fine people at the Brady Campaign.

I just can’t see actually Sarah Brady allowing this. She must be told. I bet she will put a stop to this once she is made aware of the hypocrisy. After all, she is only interested in the truth.

Fast talking lawyer voice: “Poster is not responsible for any distress caused to Blissninnies who find this post offensive. Reader is instructed to place tongue firmly in cheek while reading post. Blissninnies who read this post and fail to see that The Brady Campaign is s total sham should please seek psychological help to deal with their inability to accept reality and/or go buy a fully loaded AR-15 and spend a few hours at the range. Readers unable to buy an AR-15 due to stupid state and local laws should move."

I was once on a Brady bunch snail mail list and
still have a letter from them headed "Your
chance to tell the NRA to go to hell." Only
they wanted money. I looked in my mirror while
shaving and told myself go to {hot place} for free. And
I made a point of renewing my NRA membership early.

everyone

of us should be a member of the NRA. If we are a member we should upgrade to life. If we are life members as I have been for over thirty five years, upgrade to endowment. We now more than ever need to present a united front and support the organization(s) that support our beliefs. I would appreciate a response either here or by PM listing other groups that need our financial support at this time. I am by no means rich but believe that now is the time more than ever before to stand up and be counted.

Knowing the way they do math and quote it unrelated to facts, they'll probably just count each individual visitor as 'anti-NRA' and report the number of hits they got as being all anti-NRA.

Good point CJ... just like they equate the number of gun owners to the number of murderers in the USA.
