Don't knock that guy since I did that myself several years ago with a NM M1A (308 Win)that I just scoped. Since my Bushnell Bore Sighter itself wasn't high enough to zero my scope, or to fit into the muzzle brake, I jury rigged a gadget to raise my Bore Sighter. Figured I'd at least get on the paper, fired 3 sots at 50 yds...no holes. Moved to 25 yds...still no holes. Finally moved rifle and sand bags to pistol bench and moved the portable backstop to 3-4 feet and stapled a newspaper open on the backstop. It turned out my rifle WAS shooting over 3 1/2 feet high. I actually had to shim the scope to zero it in. Not being there, maybe your guy was having the same problem that I was having, since we are not all Rocket Scientists. BTW, Brownells sells a gadget that solves this problen by raising the Bore Sighter and It fits the muzzle brake...I now own one.
