Hi, i have a little problem, i don't know if someone has the solution.
I bought a front sight from Aristocrat company to replace my existing front sight. It's a snub-nose Smith-Wesson model 686 and i wanted to change my front sight. I receive it and when i try to unscrew the screw, the head of the screw was stripped.........My rib have been install by a gunsmitter 20 years ago, maybe there is a rust . So, what could i do to unscrew the stripped screw, the screw is very little, i join a picture of the front sight i have to change.
Thank you for your help. I try to heat the screw with a little heat, nothing happen, it seem very stick, maybe the gunsmitther has put some locktite, i don't know.

I'm not sure which screw you are referring to but you might try a small EZ-Out. If you access to a gunsmith he might have some tricks up his sleeve.

The first thing I would try is to get a set of metric driver bits.

Then select one just slightly bigger then the 'inch' hex Allen screw.

Then drive the over-size metric bit into the stripped socket head.

That should not only loosen the threads, but give the hex bit a good grip to take it out.

If that doesn't work, it will have to be drilled out.

Thank you very much guy for your good advices, i followed your tricks and i solved the problem, thank again for your help.

I work on a lot of machines which uses allen head screws, and have made litterally thousands of dollars by pounding a torx bit (I use a 2" extention too) into stripped allens and turning them out with a small ratchet which has a socket for bits.
