Suggestions for a 9mm pistol with a high round capacity?

I load 5 rounds in my CZ's, if you can't get them in 5 shots you'll never get them in 20.

Maybe not. But you'll get them more! And they'll know you have plenty left! ;)

So if you're facing three or four armed perps in a home invasion or parking lot ambush situation, you honestly think having only five rounds is just as good as 20?

According to law enforcement statistics, in the average shooting situation, 70 to 80% of shots fired will be misses. Thus having only five rounds against multiple perpetrators is not wise. I'll take 20 every time, thank you. ;)

G17 with +2 extenders that 20rds 19 in the mag 1 in the tube. Just keep in in some sort of holster that covers the trigger guard if you are going to offbody carry.

Just for clarification guys...

The bag is a Maxpedition Neatfreak with an internal holster. I was able to fit my 5" 1911 comfortably in it. I have an XD9 4" already, and I was just wondering if there are any other pistols with a significant increase in magazine capacity. The most cost effective solution is to just purchase a hicap for the XD, but I wanted to find an excuse to purchase a new gun :p

Pfft, go for an FN Five-seveN 20 rnds in the standard mag, and can be upgraded to hold 30 rnds in a semi-flush fitting mag. Of course, you gotta be comfortable trusting your life to a center-fire .22 mag. Granted the 5.7x28 is doing the same velocity from a 5" as a .22mag from a 20-odd inch barrel.

artillery luger with a 32 round snail drum ha haa :p .. kinda hard to conceal on you though

This was the best option yet...high capacity, stylish and cool old school...

The biggest thing to consider is whether you can tolerate a pistol with a DA/SA action (double action on the first pull and single action for subsequent pulls) or prefer an SA pistol or DA only pistol. That's a huge difference in the user interface! To me this it THE KEY deciding factor in choosing a pistol! Two different trigger pulls in one gun equals WHACKO, in my opinion.

Personally, I wouldn't have anything to do with a DA/SA action. I believe in the high value of consistent trigger pulls for every shot. Give me a consistent trigger pull for every shot, whether SA or DA only. Preferrably SA only for me.

I vote the Glock 19 (I consider this SA-only-ish) to be the ideal carry 9mm. With the Glock 17 mag (for around the house/RV) you get 18 rounds on tap. With the standard mag (for concealed carry), you have 16 rounds on tap. Awesome accuracy, ultimate reliability, excellent capacity, moderate cost, widespread user-base, huge aftermarket support, huge number of readily available parts and accessories, easy concealability, consistently short and nice trigger pull for every shot. All of that spells nothing short of: SWEEEEEEEEEEEET! (What gun can compare with that?) That's my vote.

If this is what you are carrying it in I would still not carry anything cocked and locked, condition 1 in that bag.

You are going to end up with NA and shot yourself or worse someone else.

My S&W 915 shoots like a champ and has a 14rd compacity. If it won't die after 14 well placed rounds I am about screwed so more rounds will hardly matter...

You have to shoot them in the head or they'll just get back up. If there is one thing I learned from Resident Evil, it's that.

By the way, does anyone know of a magazine extender base plate for the FN FNP-9?

I've got a Glock 19 but my vote is...

Browning Hi Power, the Queen of auto pistols. ( the 1911 is King ). I love the feel and quality of my 1969 vintage T model Hi Power. My Glock 19 with G-17 mags is a very good defensive weapon, but my BHP is REGAL...:D
