Suggestions for hammer fired 9mm

HK P30S V3. This is a DA/SA gun that has a decocking button on the back of the slide and an ambidexterous safety lever. If I'm not mistaken, there is also a variant of the HK USP also available with a right side and/or ambidexterous control lever, though there's too many variants of USP for me to be able to identifty it off the top of me head.

Could look at a Beretta PX4 Storm Compact if initial DA shot is not an issue. Very smooth shooter.

Today I ham cleaning a German (likely Sauer) Single Action revolver that is chambered in 357 but that also has a separate cylinder for 9mm. I hadn't shot it in about a decade and found a little external surface rust when I got it back out of storage. Bore and all mechanisms seem in great shape so I'll clean it up and try running some 9mm through it this week.

I have a PX4 in 9 and 45. 9 has a decocker only and the 45 has a decocker/safety (Prefer the decocker only)
Wife has a PX4 Compact in 9,,,(Decocker/safety)
I also have the Beretta upgrade trigger module in my 9 and 'D' trigger springs in all.
I have a 'half dozen or so' 9's, but the PX4 sees the most range time.

I'm aware the P30S can be carried "cocked and locked", but I was not aware it was available with a safety lever on the right and left sides.

In the event it's useful, here are the left and right side of the HK P30SK S:

I own and carry this model regularly. As a lefty, I really like the features, fit, and finish as compared to some similar guns from other manufacturers.

Just got a CZ P07 for Christmas and I really love the size, overall feel, and heft of the gun. The grip section is like the P01; slightly different but in a good way. Double action trigger is a little heavy out of the box while the single action is decent enough for a new gun just starting out. Sights are easy to acquire and the gun points on target very naturally for me.

Good gun. I'd still have mine if the optional safety wasnt so itty bitty I couldn't reliably run it cocked and locked (which was the whole reason I bought it).

DA/SA was OK but not nearly as good as my P229 which was in the same size category (for me) so the CZ found a new home.

I get the desire for a 9mm, and I agree that it is a good direction to go as 10mm ammo is not super common or even in the same ballpark on price. I would suggest renting a few and seeing what you like, but before you plop your credit card down I highly suggest you get your hands on a revolver. If you lime the power of a 10mm then you are going to like a .357. If you still think you want a bottom feeder then I can't recommend a gun more highly than the Taurus PT92 series. The guns are built well, and are cheap enough. Totally different world than a glock. There are railed guns that fit stated your criteria perfectly, in a very smooth and accurate gun that is beautiful and well proven. Don't be afraid of the brand, the PT series is among the best guns they have ever made, and just flat out work. It's a steal at the $300ish price tag.

Clearing malfunction in a CZ: my CZ 75D 'PCR' glitches were only caused by the cheapest, lousiest ammo I've ever used-
Winchester's pride and glory, "Forged". It is in the brown & black boxes. Despite being only practice ammo, glad I only bought one box.

This was not the fault of the gun and nobody considers anything in this Ammo price range 'self-defense'.
Even the better guns can't be very reliable with this bonafide junk. Is Winchester ashamed of this stuff?

bannockburn's Post #24, upper photo had the same CZ. It is now gone from the photo. My Sig P228s (1994) don't have rails, but otherwise might meet his criteria with the right mag (OEM or cheap version?).
