I'm curious. What do you folks carry in the summer? I'm talking 95 degree shorts and t-shirt weather. Is it different than what you carry in the winter? Where do you carry it? You're responses are appreciated!

BTW, I know the info is out there via the search function, but opinions and technologies change all the time.:D(This is an edit:rolleyes: )

LMG ...... try a search on ''summer carry'' ... you should find some useful material.

Always a prob for me .. I sweat buckets. I loathe winter but .. carry is a piece of cake .. oh and no mowing!!:D

Right now ... I could have Fobus OWB 4 o'clock with full size auto ... same position N frame revo . or as this minute ... same position, high-ride pancake with SP-101 complete with CT grips. Even use sho rig at times too with full size.

Summer comes down to size as much as anything so .. probably what I have today .. the SP or some snub. A large t-shirt can pretty much cover that but much more risk of printing and care needed to avoid riding up.

I have a SmartCarry . and may well when needing deep conceal with minimal clothing, try that at times ...... and/or .. switch to something like a pocket based KT P-3AT ... it's a constant challenge when sweat is generous and clothing light!

I find the ''summer challenge'' has to be decided sometimes day to day ... if a thin over shirt possible then that's great .... but on a 95º day with same humidity ... then it's never exactly easy ... but carry I do and will ... however hard to deal with.

I live in Florida and my 365 day a year carry is a stainless Kahr MK40Elite in an Uncle Mikes IWB nylon holster. When the holster gets a little worn just chuck it and get another for $12.

I usually just make sure to wear longer clothing during summer. Think Hawaiian shirts. Light vests are good in summer too.

Summer, whats that?

We skip summer here and go straight to bake.

Summer carry for me is a Glock 19 in a Comp-Tac Undercover. Its also the winter carry here too. Of course we dont have much of a winter either.

IWB 9 o'clock (lefty), button down shirt with a wife beater tee-shirt underneath. Gotta have a barrier between the skin and holster.

I prefer Kydex instead of leather during the hot days.

In most shorts, a small KelTec, either P32 or P3AT (front pocket).
In jeans or cargo shorts, Kahr PM9 front pocket.
If driving a lot, the PM9 rides in a Uncle Mike's Belt pak.
Looks like a pouch for a PDA or something. I keep my wallet in the main compartment, and no one has ever given a second look.
(Or a first look, for that matter.)

Over the last couple of months, I've been wearing untucked shirts and sweaters, with a Colt Defender in an IWB holster.
I'm hoping this will work under tshirts and maybe the Hawaiian shirt.

I actually have a sightly easier time carrying concealed in the summer than I do in the winter. I wear a white t-shirt or wifebeater style tucked in, with another regular t-shirt over it. Than I wear a iwb rig with two spare magazines. No problems. During the winter, when Im wearing a coat Im ok, but My sweatshirts are not as long as my t-shirts, and why they do cover the belt line, I have to be more careful not to bend over or anything since I have less shirt material covering my belt.

Summertime carry usually means the same guns as the rest of the year. Primary simply goes in a fanny pack. Not a tactical fanny pack, either. Just a good quality leather one in which I glued a nylon holster of the appropriate size. Pocket gun is still in my pocket. Obviously, with no pantlegs to cover it, the ankle gun gets left behind when I wear shorts.

Summer carry, Glock 27 in Smartcarry. Winter carry, Glock 27 in Smartcarry.

I use a Galco PH286 pocket holster if I have to change clothes at the gym.

I will be carrying a PT111 in my front pocket this summer. So far 1000+ rounds, 100% reliable, great to carry, and fun/accurate to shoot.

pt111 in front pocket carry?? must be a big pocket...what kind of pants will you be using that have that large a front pocket??

I am just curious ;)

Full-size 1911 in a Milt Sparks Watch-Six holster. I wear it over a tucked-in t-shirt and under an untucked print shirt - often a hawaiian pattern.

Granted, in MN, we don't get the weeks of searing heat as some places, but I've worn this way in 90+ degrees comfortably.

Suit or shorts, summer or winter, I carry a full size 1911 in a Sparks SSII on a Rosen belt.

If I am wearing very light clothing....

such as shorts and a T-shirt then I always carry my S & W 442 with a Barami Hip-Grip. Makes a super combination. If I have a pocket in my shorts then I'll also carry an extra speed loader. If you are not familiar with the Hip-Grip I am adding its URL http://baramihipgrip.com/. Good shooting;)

They let you carry

in the City of Sin???

Here in NH I carry the same all seasons: G22 or Para Tac Four, full-size guns, in a Tucker Texas Heritage tuckable IWB. I tend to wear blousy button-up shirts in the summer and the guns just disappear under them. That way I don't have to change my dress habits, which would be a giveaway. I'm never seen with an untucked shirt.

Living in Florida it is pretty hot through most of the year and the humidity can be a factor as well. When I am out and about in the heat I usually have the Kel-Tec P3AT in a pocket holster of my shorts. No muss, no fuss and it is invisible in a set of baggy shorts.

Something else I recomend for both your shorts and jeans if you carry a pocket gun... either sew in yourself or have someone else sew in pocket reinforcement in all your pockets. I recently ripped out a pocket on a pair of jeans I have and the contents of said poccket ended up all over the pavement beside my van while I was filling the gas tank. Thankfully it was my change pocket and not my gun pocket! Murphy's law dictated that I was wearing the one pair of pants I had without the heavy duty pockets! I recomend using "trigger cloth" (same color as the pocket material) which is a sport cloth you can find at most fabric stores and is very heavy duty, sew it to over the existing pocket so if any of your pocket interior is exposed it looks like the original material. It's pretty easy to run a sewing machine over the existing stitches.

The PT111 is close to the same size as the Glock 26. It fits about the same, as the dimensions are very close. I am large (6'2" 250lbs), so I wear larger pants than many, but my PT111 rides in my jeans, or my Royal Robbins 5.11's that I usually wear at work. I use my Pt111 as a BUG at work, and it is virtually unoticable. I think if more people gave the PT111 a shot, they would carry it often and learn to love it. Yes there were many problems at first, but they seem to be worked out, I fired 1000 consecutive rounds through mine without cleaning before I started carrying it, and it didn't hicup once (one round with a bad primer didn't fire in the PT111, Ruger P95, or S&W 5906). I have also been known to put My P95 in my front pocket with the right pants, it was tough to draw, but really not that noticable.

Vern,
that isnt a bad looking holster at all...you might want to change the snaps to "one-way" snaps but other than that it looks very servicable.

nice work
