I watched an episode of Superstore last night, where an employee of the store was scheduled to work the gun counter, and did not want to do it because of a moral objection to guns. I thought that this was a primarily anti-gun episode, but my wife thought that it was the opposite (because the anti-gun person goes to an extreme and really looks foolish for imposing his views on others, and trying to determine who is worthy to buy a gun and who is not). Did anybody else see the episode? Thoughts?

I noticed that the standard background check was not a part of the episode, they got that wrong. But they did get a few things right: People working at big box stores, selling guns, when they know very little about them and may not want to know about them.

Glad I stopped the TV viewing 20 years ago When my children were little . They grew up with out TV and really never miss a thing. TV a total waste of time.

Never heard of that show. Basically, if it isn't pick-up-able on my little loop antenna capturing free over-the-air broadcasts, it's foreign to me.

Grew up in an age where there wasn't much on broadcast TV, so except for Brooklyn Dodgers games and a few entertainment shows. So we, the family, didn't watch it much. Even though we were "the first on your block" to get a TV set. Thus, no early-age habituation to it.

Nowadays I found I got pretty good at winnowing the chaff from the wheat just from having it on some of the time, "observing" it while I do other stuff rather than "watching" it. There are only a few shows which I actively watch and will go looking for the remote to get that channel. Most of the time, if they're not playing too much liturgical (yuch) music, I listen to the local classical FM station, KVOD. I can keep that at a very low volume level since I know just about every note of classical pieces... well, maybe every other note, OK? So I can listen along with full orchestral volume and color "in my head," without disturbing my neighbors.

I'm so glad you asked. :)

Gun, piezoelectric pressure, Unique, 158 grain LSWC, energy calculation.

Well, all warmed up now. Back to work.

This is how you actually do decent anti-gun satire (Homer buys a gun);

(even then, they accidentally undercut their own argument quite a bit)

And while a bit silly, this is the best I've seen (Harvey Birdman: Guitar Control);

Which I feel is notable for being the most accurate mockery of both sides I've yet seen (the whole episode lambastes both pro and anti gun people, as well as the gun lobby, er, the Guitar Lobby). Quick Draw McGraw as Chuck From-my-cold-dead-hands Heston was brilliant.

*and for the record, I can no longer stand broadcast TV having forsaken it during college; the volume shift between show & commercial is so ridiculous I feel like I'm getting air-horned every five minutes (or less), which has understandably soured me on the whole deal :p

I missed this episode; I love the show, think it's hilarious, because I work at the chain they lampoon. They get a lot of it right, but there are some very knowledgeable people that work Sporting Goods. I hope I have it DVR'd.
Well, I got to watch it last night, and it was mildly anti, mostly the main character, Amy, played by the exec. producer, America Ferrera. Can't be too shocked by that. Overall, still a good show, had me and SWMBO guffawing the whole half-hour.

I watched it. Pretty anti-gun because every gun owner in the open carry protest is a stereotypical, camo wearing redneck and in the cash register speech, the character speaking has to categorize everyone open carrying as "immature" and they all hang their heads in shame. If it comes out of Hollywood, it's anti-gun, I work in Hollywood. Wasn't as bad as most and I liked that exposition they gave the assistant store manager to tell another character that "these are all law abiding citizens exercising their 2nd amendment rights to carry a rifle for self defense." and she delivers this line very matter of fact, without judgement. That part of it wasn't totally slanted, at least they explained it. I am sure California viewers where I live were appalled that citizens are allowed to do that in other states.

I had never heard of the show, I had too google it to find out what network it is on. Found out it is on NBC, which tells me why I haven't heard of it. I haven't watched a series on NBC or any of the broadcast networks for at least 10 years now.

I do not watch network TV but I will try to catch the episode if only because it touches on gun rights.
