Is it true that if I buy a .45 pistol suppressor, the suppressor will also work on all other calibers provided they are smaller than .45? Will there be as much suppression on say a 9mm with a .45 suppressor as there is with a genuine 9mm suppressor? What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a suppressor larger than needed?

For best results, pick a suppressor that matches the caliber of your host weapon. The larger the suppressor hole vs the bullet diameter lets more gas blow out the suppressor around the bullet, thus making it louder. Typically, 45 's & 9 mm's use different thread patterns on the barrels also. 45 cans are usually shot wet to try to get to the sound levels a dry 9 mm can would produce with subsonic ammo.
