Swapping Out Carry Ammo....

I look at all the ammunition stored in very hot and humid environments around the world and still go bang. My carry ammo is living at the Ritz-Carlton in it's life compared to military ammunition.

But if you are more comfortable and don't mind spending the money on expensive SD ammo to replace every 6 months than who am I to say you are wrong?

This is my experience. When I was in Iraq in 2003, we did destroy a lot of old corroded ammo found in storage but that stuff was really stored crappy. Most military units don’t store it nearly as well as people here on this board and it’s fine. How much 20-50 year old surplus stuff have you shot that is still good to go?

I do believe in watching for setback of chambered multiple times, and keep a purple sharpie in the safe to mark such rounds, but heat and humidity for ammo bought less than 10 years ago and stored in my house isn’t a concern to me, even when loaded and carried.

@FFGColorado Thank you for looking that up for me; however, I live in Michigan and driving to the nearest Big R would be a two day road trip at a minimum. ;)

I am keeping my eyes open locally; if a big box store like Big R has it hopefully some of the shops close to me will.

Good luck in your search. If you are in the Chicago area some of the outer burbs have Big R stores.
