A glock 36 to be precise. I have adjustable and want fixed. I know...call me crazy. I just like the simple look of fixed and the adj. are longer from front to back and have snagged on doors etc.

Question is: Can i just buy the Glock factory fixed and NOT change the front sight????

Probably. I went from the Glock factory fixed to both sets of adjustables, without changing out the front sight. Worked okay.

Don't whack the rear of the slide on a just-out-of-battery failure to feed if you have the first-gen factory adjustable sights. They will fly apart (they hang over the end of the slide--bad idea!). 2nd gen work much better!
