Tactical pen options?

Looks like only the Rev 2 version of that pen is left.

Rats. I wanted one in copper or stainless.

Rats. And darn.

I don't think we paid more than $40 for mine. Of course we got mine in 2008, if memory serves. I guess six years yields a substantial rise in cost.

I recall I paid $38 for the solid stainless steel when I got it. Far less for the black aluminum ones (I have a gen 1 and gen 2), so yeah that is a massive price hike I did not notice. That's a shame, they are such great pens. Even took one to Europe with me.

Pens vs real world use....

Id advise any forum members to consider the writing or ink characteristics first before the "defense" features.
The pen will be a writing instrument or tool before you might need it as a weapon or emergency device(glass breaker).

Unless your 007 or MacGuyver, ;) , you'll use the pen for writing or carry more than as a last ditch weapon or rescue tool.
That's why Ive said in the recent past to a few members to get Fisher ink cartridges or styles that can function outdoors or in bad weather.

Stainless steel tactical pen

I have a couple of these. It is essentially a piece of stainless bar stock milled out to accommodate a pen. You can find them on eBay from a variety of vendors for $ 18 to 25 shipped from China. Extremely solid, no sharp bits to poke you and the machining is absolutely gorgeous. I am a long-time kubotan user, and this pen is perfect for that use. Note however that no clip is included. There is also a titanium version of this pen, and a clip is included with that model.

RCModel nailed it early on.

I've never seen a tactical pen that doesn't scream TACTICAL PEN! to co-workers, LEO or security personnel. I received one as a gift -- S&W was kind enough to put their corporate logo on the clip, facing outwards toward all humanity. Great for advertising, lousy for secrecy.

There have been days I have had to leave my desk for a short walk a few blocks form the office; I have a metal Parker pen that sits in my hand or shirt pocket. It is about as invisible a weapon as possible.
