Disclaimer: I don't own a Taurus 709 slim. Although I did pick one up at the LGS/indoor range where I have a membership and dry fire it, and it fits my hand.

The folks at the Taurus Armed forum did a poll on the 709 "How has your 709 worked" recently (last post June 2011)

243 folks voted
93 said "no problems" 38.27%
52 said "fte" 21.40%
18 said "ftf" 7.41%
11 said "loose magazine" 4.53%
21 said "light strike" 8.64%
48 said "off on sites" 19.75%

Now, unless lots of folks are not telling the truth in this poll, it looks to me like over half the people have a problem with their 709.

I bought a pt709 slim from my wife a while back and it was a piece of junk. We had failure to feeds out the wazzooo! 4 jams in the first 60 rounds. the jams did go away after the the first 200 rounds but the ftf's persisted for the length of time we had the gun.
I've shot a many of hand guns over the years from all the various gun companys and this one was by far the most inaccurate gun I've ever shot. I traded it for something else and will never own another taurus. I hate to paint their whole product line with a bad stroke but when your first exsperience with a company is as bad as mine was with taurus its hard to go back.

Someone mentioned the sights a bit off, fwiw the rear sight is adjustable, I adjusted mine to perfection almost
