Anyone know where the 738 is made? US or foreign? Any reason to purchase it over LCP or P3AT other than it comes with an extra mag, the murse probably won't see the light of day. My local shop has the 738 @$299, LCP @ $299, P3AT @ $289. Wife's getting the LCP today, I'm still on the fence. Which one is best/overrated ?

Academy sells 'em for 279. They have a slide lock open feature on the last round the others don't have. Also, I really like the trigger better for pocket carry, light, but longish. They're available in STAINLESS, big time bonus there far as I'm concerned. I'll always go for the staiinless.

I don't have one. SIL just got one and we haven't had a chance to shoot it, yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I might get one for myself, don't know. I do like the stainless, though.

I bought mine this past June for $309.00. They are coming down in price like most things do after the introduction phase. I was led to believe that they are made in Alabama for Taurus & serviced in Miami, Fl.

Bought my 738 stainless for $289. Took it to the range yesterday and was really impressed with the accuracy and trigger.

I picked one up a few weeks ago but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I must say the trigger is borderline excellent, smooth and quite light. My particular 738 appears to be very well made. BTW, I am not, and have never been a fan of Taurus. Got mine on sale off Gunbroker for $239.00 shipped.

However, there have been problems, most seem to be mag related, i.e. follower had excessive side to side play, mag latch in slide not stamped properly causing the mag to drop out, and some feed issues. Supposedly the newer mags address these issues.

We'll see.
