Taurus Barrel for $100 per inch

Looking at the auction sites I see that the Taurus 605 runs about $100 more for a 3 inch barrel than the 2 inch barrel. That seems like a lot - am I missing something?

A common recurring thread is a lament about the dearth of 3" revolvers compared to 2", 4", 6", 8". I suspect that's why the 3" commands a premium.

Hmmm...so they charge that much because they can.

Well if it's a true auction and the sold prices are as you described, then it's really supply/demand yadda yadda someone paid more for a 3" versus someone else who paid less for a 2".

The 2" is very common. 3" was very rare, up until the recent introduction of the "605 Defender".
