Looking for feed back on the TAURUS MILLENNIUM PRO COMPACT.

Is it relieable and how accurate is it?

The MilPro Compact is a double action/single action gun, I think.

The following flavors is what I have run across:

MilPro DOA (true DOA with second strike)
MilPro SA/DA
MilPro Compact SA/DA (A MilPro with a 24/7 grip and mag)
24/7 DOA
24/7 Pro SA/DA

Anyone fell free to correct the above list

As for me, I own the original PT145 MilPro DOA. 10 rds of 45ACP in a small package, true DOA trigger, and external safety. I love it. I have a total of 500 rounds of mixed Blazer and Blazer Brass through it and have only had one FTF. As for accuracy, it shoots better than me, but the guy over at Gunblast.com was about to get 2 inch groups off hand at 25 yards. From a 3 inch barrel and DOA trigger, that ain't too shabby.

confusion to say the least.

Taurus marketing has managed to confuse just about everyone!!!

In 9mm this is the progression as best as I can keep it straight.

PT-111 Millennium DAO...trigger got crappy reviews, some w/ pinky ext. on mag....some didn't

PT-111 Millennium Pro DAO...trigger improved...grip re-tooled to wrap around pinkey ext. on mag. Rear sight is fixed and engraving says PT-111 on right side....Millennium Pro on left. Can be had w/10 round or 12 round mags

PT-111 Millenium Pro name didn't change...but now it has the same SA/DA trigger as the 24/7 & has adj. rear sight. Engraving now says PT-111 Pro on right side and Millennium on the left.

Seems like there was lot's of buzz about the 24/7 trigger comming to the smaller Millennium Pro and early reports said it was going to be called the 24/7 Compact and the Mil Pro was going to stay DAO.

Looks like what they decided to do was keep the name Millennium Pro.

Of course, their web site is not caught up yet.

In .45, there is a PT-145 Millennium Pro listed along with a PT-745 Millennium Pro Compact. specs. seem nearly identical, but shape of the grip looks slightly different.

I've seen or heard nothing about the 24/7 grip being added to the Millennium Pro line, which is to bad because I don't care for the molded check pattern.

Speaking only for the DAO Mil. Pro in 9mm...it's a great shooting and 100% reliable little gun. Not as concealable as a Poly framed Kahr (they are SO thin), but pretty tiny just the same.

I'd like to try the SA/DA trigger, as I've changed over to Condition-1 carry (all Mil Pro's have manual thumb safety)....so might as well have the lighter trigger.

Many argue for the "sailor-proof" condition-0 carry with DAO trigger and holster that fully covers the trigger gaurd. I think if I ever go this way, I'll get a Kahr CW-9 and not have any chance of accidentally engaging the safety.

Is assembly/disassembly still difficult with this new Mil Pro?
Difficult? You pull the slide back, rotate the disassembly pin down and remove it, then ease the slide group off the rails. Take out the one-piece recoil spring assembly and the barrel. Any easier, and the blasted thing would disassemble itself! :neener:

I don't consider it very hard, there's just a take down pin you rotate and pull out. I suppose it's not the easiest pin to get out but it's not rocket science or anything...

I have the PT111 Millennium Pro (9mm) with the Heine sights (not adjustable) and the DA/SA trigger. I've put 600 rounds, various FMJ and JHP, through it without a hiccup. It's suprisingly accurate at 7 yards. The thumb safety is a personal preference thing, I personally like it. I like the gun so much I wish I would have bought the Ti version. It's a great gun for the money.

In doing some internet research on the PT111, I found some complaints involving cracked grips or frames after 700 plus rounds.

Since I intend to put a lot of rounds through the pistol, I am concerned about the possibility frame or grip cracking!

I did look at the Kahr CW9, but it's ammo capacity is less than I wanted.

Right now it looks like I may end up with a 3" XD-9 although it is a little bulkier pistol than I wanted.

this was a problem with the older millenium non-pro models. (or so i've heard, apparently mine didn't get the memo.) the problem has bee fixed in the newer "pro" series.

The Millenniums that had the problems with the grips and frame cracking were the early, original, non-Pro guns. These problems were eliminated fairly quickly, from what I understand.

I know I had absolutely no issues or problems with both my plain old "Millennium" and "Millennium Pro" pistols in 9mm, and will probably buy one of the newer SA/DA guns the first chance I get.

The PT-145 is a double stack 10+1,and the PT-745 is a single stack 6+1 with a much slimmer grip...Both in 45acp,I believe this is the only caliber that has this option...

I'm with MrTuffPaws. My new M-P PT145 has proven to be failure free after 400 rounds and I have even shot 50 rounds of Golden Saber 185gr +P through it. Very stout recoil and I probably wouldn't consider that as the load for carry, but it did not harm the pistol in any way. I load it with the GS 230gr JHP's.

While the PT145 is nice and light, the 11 rounds makes it a failry heavy CCW pistol. But it's no wider than a 1911 and otherwise easily concealable under a shirt or light jacket.

The best part was paying $300 out the door including WA sales tax at 8.8% :D

I guess I had a "special" Mil Pro. I had the type which required a trigger pull after the takedown pin was removed before the slide would release. Then the entire barrel assembly could easily travel too far back during reassembly, making it difficult to get the takedown pin back in. You had to hold down on the barrel to make sure it wouldn't go too far back, while installing the slide on the rails, while inserting the takedown pin. It could be done, but it was a pain.

I have this one. Taurus PT140 S&W .40 which I love. I carry it everyday. I've put a couple of thousand rounds through it and not one issue. 100% perfect everytime. I like my 1911 better, but for the size and low cost it can't be beat.
