I am looking at getting a compact carry or bug. I have looked at many chioces and have come down to two.

Kel Tec PF-9 in 9mm

Taurus MILLENNIUM PRO PT111 9mm

Which of these two would make a better gun and why???

Please vote

if your heart is set on 9mm, i can't help...but if you are looking for pocket carry the p3at fits the bill....i have a 380..p11...p40/357....the p3at is in my all ways front pocket....if i can wear a jacket the mini mac goes under the shoulder, along with the keltec...gpr

P11. The PF9 is still new and, like all KelTec products, will be working the bugs out for a time. If you like to tinker, go for it.

The P11 is a lightweight, no-nonsense CCW weapon with 10+1 mags. (I never found a reliable factory 12+1 mag from KT; I tried a few.)

The Taurus Millenium? I wasn't impressed but don't have enough first-hand knowledge to critique.

Good luck!

Buy American

All else being equal, buy American. KT is made in Florida, Taurus in Brasil.

My choice is a S&W 642. $395.00 (new) out the door, you can't beat it. .38 +P it will always go bang - no bugs to work out. Add a set of crimson trace laser grips (LG305 or the new LG405) and you have a bad ass little rig  At 15 oz, you'll forget its in your pocket. IWB with shorts and a tee shirt for summer, it's good to go year round. Good luck :D

Kahr CW9 only $50-80 more than the PF-9 and way better trigger than the P11.

PT-111 would be my second choice but its a good bit thicker than the CW9. I think the rail on the PF-9 is just plain goofy.

I've got a pt145, while I don't know if there any size differences between the 145 and the 111 (I'm pretty sure there are) I like that fact that the 145 fills my hands better than a smaller gun, just something to consider.

I've got one of the little p-32 KT's, and have shot the P11. IME, KT's work, but, their triggers reguire a healthy gorilla. the P32 is soo small that it takes an odd hold to allow me to cycle the trigger without fouling on my thumb. not an issue with the 9, though.

can't say about the pt111, but the PT1911, now, there's a fine gun.

Former Kel-Tec owner (P-11 and P-40) ... have shot a family member's PT-111 extensively, wife owns a PT-145.

The Taurus PT-1xx series triggers, though incredibly long, seem much better to me than the K-T triggers (my P-11 broke apart, the P-40 was simply possessed of the most horrid trigger I've ever experienced and brutal recoil). Our PT-145, OTOH, is a supremely reliable, amazingly accurate little piece of relatively soft-recoiling 10+1 rounds of .45 ACP. The 111 I've shot is similarly reliable and a great little package for concealed carry.

I've used Taurus' (sometimes criticized) customer service, and found it excellent.

I'd go with the Taurus, though I do know many knowledgeable gun-people (whose opinions and experience I respect) who are Kel-Tec converts ...

I also like the S&W Airweights, a lot ... though capacity may be an issue, they are cool, and superb little revolvers ...

Kahrs, on the other hand ... good boat anchors ...

I chose the Taurus over the P-11 a few years ago and was quite satisfied at the time. The PF9 is still new and seems to be having problems... not the least of which is getting to the market place! I replaced the Taurus w/the XD9 sub compact and a c-tac holster last year. No regrets.

Ghostrider, I don want to try to change your mind if you know you want a 9mm. But my PT145 is the single most size-efficient handgun I personally have ever held. I suppose the Rorbaugh edges it out, but I have not held that one. If you are planning to get a pt111, I would highly recommend you heft the pt145.

By the way, make sure you get a third generation one. It has to be the one with the accessory rail. The previous generations had frame problems

+1 on what Roadwild17 said. Choose the Taurus Millennium Pro PT145...same size as the above mentioned but in truly pocket-cannon .45 ACP. I would prefer the DOA second generation model to the new ones though.

Third Generation DAO

the new Mil Pro with the "single/double" action is the forth generation. I've got the third gen PT145 and it is great! Feed it the Taurus ammo with the Barnes solid copper bullets and it sings a very nice eleven verse song.

I'm very happy with my PT-111 Pro

and I find that the quality of manufacture is very good.

I got the stainless and the finish is holding up very well after 9 months of daily carry.

Based on my Taurus revolvers, I'm sure the Millenium is a good gun, but I know the P11 has served me going into 11 years now flawlessly and accurately. And, it's quite pocketable in the right pockets, works well for me. The PF9 is too new for me to bite, yet, and doesn't really offer much "improvement" over the P11 unless you aren't too good with DA triggers. I'm sure KT would take care of any flaws, but I'd as soon wait. I prefer 9mm in a pocket size gun, too, more firepower and plenty effective with +P ammo. The P11 can hold 13 rounds, as much as many service sized guns. I don't buy into the "bigger is better .45 can blow 'em off their feet" arguement. I might need more ammo. You just don't know what you're going to find yourself in to. Of course, I often carry a five shot revolver, but that's because I like revolvers. :D

I think any one of 'em is a decent choice, though, frankly.

I voted Taurus, but only because I would wait a while on the PF-9. Once the PF-9 has been in full production for several months and is functioning well, I would probably side with it.

I'm assuming you have these choices due to economic concerns, otherwise, I would suggest the Kahr MK9.
Of the three you listed, I would go with the KT P11. It has been on the market long enough to have had all the bugs worked out and it does accept Smith and Wesson series 59 magazines (or so they say).
As stated above, it's made in America by Americans!!

I had a PT111 PRO and although it was 100% reliable, I got rid of it, because I felt uncomfortable carrying a cocked and locked, single action, striker fired pistol with what I felt was a very small and hard to find saftey and sights that just did not work for me.

If you are thinking about carrying the PT111 in your pocket, forget it! The PT111 is not in any way a pocket pistol either. It's far too big for any of my pants pockets.

The PF-9 is at the limits of pocket carry for me, while the P-3AT is perfect.

My P-3AT alongside the PT111 I usd to own.

Kahr CW9 only $50-80 more than the PF-9 and way better trigger than the P11.

You're either not paying enough for the Kahr, or too much for the PF-9

Davidsons lists the PF-9 at 263.00 and the Kahr at almost 200.00 more

Mil Pro

I was looking at both the P11 ant PT111, I went with the Mil Pro, I felt the Mil Pro had more features, I didn't have to have the feed ramp polished or anything done to the trigger, the manual safety, external locking safety (I have kids and will also be leaving it in my car on occasion) better ergonomics, Loaded chamber indicator, and in my opinion it seems to be better made (just my opinion), either way and you'll be happy. The Mil Pro will fit holsters made for the XD sc, and Glock 26,27 ect. I do wish however I would of gotten the stainless slide. Also don't overlook the larger caliber Mil Pro's, but if you are on a budget like me the nine is fine.
Good Luck and be Safe!

I've got to vote other. To quote one of my favorites, "45acp, Because no matter how you rationalize it, 9mm is still for women and pansies". :D Im just kiddin' around. I actually use a bersa .380 as my glovebox BUG.
