I'm pretty fond of .40 S&W overall, good power that I shoot pretty well with. Had been wanting something in that caliber for CCW but couldn't make up my mind between several options. So tonight I went to the range and the guy next to me had a Mil-Pro PT-140 that he let me run a few magazines through.

At about 35 ft my first round was a bit of a flier but still on the paper, then I put the next three rounds through the same ragged hole about 1" to the left of the bullseye! You better believe I stopped shooting and recovered that target as a keeper :D

Okay, chalk it up to luck because the rest of the groupings were pretty similar to my XD-40 (service model) say a 3" group. Trigger is WAY different from the XD but I didn't dislike it. That's it, I'm hooked. Gotta get me one of these.

Odd thing though, Taurus lists the PT-140 as a DA/SA trigger but this one really felt like a DAO.

Big Z, Welcome to the Taurus satisfied owner club. Have a PT111 Mil/pro myself and have had sterling service out of it. There are several threads over at www.unitedforums.com at the Taurus Forum as we post on just this subject. Many happy owners over there as well as decent discussions on related matters. Most are PT140 or PT145 owners. This is kind of a haven for like minded owners. I like this forum a lot and there are more voices of interest here and at the other site. Enjoy the best of both worlds. Glad to see someone enjoy their purchase regardless of the make or model. The shooting fraternity is so large that not having fun would be a crime.:) :D

Hey, thanks for sending me in the direction of that link. Right of the bat I was able to determine that the MilPro I shot was a 2'nd gen with the DAO trigger. I wonder if I'll be able to find one myself (I'd really prefer my CCW to be a DAO).

I have a Taurus PT-140 pro that I have owned since Jan '06. This pistol has been awesome, accurate, reliable, very comfortable, mild recoil. I've put 1000 rounds out of mine so far, no hiccups.:D I bought mine on a whim one day at a gun shop, best decision I ever made. This gun fits my hand like a glove!

I've got a PT145 MilPro, so far so good. I haven't had a chance to put many rounds through it, only about 100 to date.
I thought the trigger would take some getting used to but it didn't. Recoil was less than expected considering its size; I don't think its any better or worse than my Kimber.
The only thing I don't care for is the Heinie sights, with more range time I might get used to them. I looked around for replacement three dots but can't seem to find any. Meprolight and Trijicon make them for the pre-Pro models but not the Pro.

Arrrggghh, yer killin' me (but in a good way). Won't be able to buy a MilPro of my own until after the new year (darn those holiday finances).

DAO???

as best as I can keep it straight.....here's the evolution....

all of the Millennium series and then the first year or so of the Millennium Pro were DAO (I have the PT-111 Pro, DAO and carry it daily).

The 24/7 came out as a DAO and then the 24/7 Pro introduced their DA/SA trigger....but IMO they should have called it a SA/DA trigger, because it's different than the "traditioanal" DA/SA (i.e. Sig, CZ, Baretta). The 24/7 Pro trigger is single action on the first pull and every pull there after. It only reverts to a DA pull if you have a FTF and you go for the second strike.

Then they switched the Millenium Pro series to the same SA/DA trigger as the 24/7 Pro.

Clear as mud, eh??

You can still find DAO Millenium Pro models NIB on the auction sites and in you local dealers display case.

They come with either 10 round (California legal) mags or 12 round mags. No difference in the gun, just the mag.

But....when you're shopping for mags...DO NOT buy a Millenium mag, as it will not work in a Millenium Pro.

Personally, I wish I had the newer SA/DA Millennium Pro, as I carry with one in the pipe and the manual safety on.

So, if you want DAO...just buy a new one and I'll trade ya ;)

Ah, but you want .40 cal.......no $12 per 100 count WWB for you
