So I have an oppertunity to pick one up in excellent condition for a very very good price, but have no experience with this gun.
I have owned a few Taurus revolvers with varying degrees of fit and finish, but really don't have any experience with their autoloaders.

Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.

I bought one a few months ago. It was reliable, no problems with it. The 111 G2 just fit my hand better so I traded it. Mags are easier to find for the 709 now, so that's a plus.

Thanks.
I'm gonna hopefully get to test drive it at the indoor range in a few weeks.

From what I read here and elsewhere, that's one of the autoloaders Taurus seems to have gotten right. Their prices are good, too. I have a number of Taurus handguns, but not that one. Only three revolvers and four small, hammer-fired autos. No issues yet with any of them.

I owned one briefly. I got it used for super cheap. I shot a box of ammo through it with no malfunctions. Unfortunately it fit my XL hands sort of okay for holding, but the long trigger pull was extremely difficult for my index finger. I traded it towards a Ruger LC9, which I eventually traded towards a Glock 43. (I'm good now.)

I had a 709 Slim for a little while. I really wanted to like the gun but mine had issues with the trigger not functioning right so I got rid of it.

You really need to try the trigger before you decide. Mine felt essentially "dead" (no pressure at all) during the long take up then boom, you hit the break. I don't know if they're all like that or not.

It carry's very similar to the LC9s I currently use though. Easy to carry if you do decide on it.

I had one when they first came out that was easily the worst pistol I've ever owned. Anything that could go wrong with a semi-auto went wrong with that one. Friends who have later production 709s have had much better luck though. It's good that you're going to get to test drive it you'll get to see if it's good to go. I thought it was a little snappy but the ergonomics were quite good for a pocket pistol and didn't mind the trigger that much at the time.

I like Taurus revolvers, I've never had a bad Taurus gun and I've owned a few.

With this being said they make good range guns, but until their reputation improves to the point where their reliability is as good as the other guys, I don't know if I'd trust my life to one.

Sig P226/8/9 mags fit the PT111G2.

I bought one a couple years back. It functioned like it should and carried and concealed well, but there were a couple problems. The pistol shot to the left and low and I had to adjust the sight to it's maximum to bring it on target. The other problem was the trigger, it released so far back that my trigger finger would rub against my supporting hand. The only way I could shoot it well was to use the tip of my finger on the trigger. In a panic situation there is no way I would be able to just use the tip of my finger.
My advise it to shoot it first, at least a box of ammo, before you purchase it. The pistol felt great in my hand but shooting it comfortably and accurately was the weak point.

Same with me, the 111 isn't a whole lot thicker, but I sure shoot it well compared to the 709.

This will be mostly another kit gun for me until I move back to GA, (no CCW for citizens in CA).
Im a revolver guy mostly, but lately Ive been running across really good deals from guys that frequent my LGS, and some are really good. I get the LEO discount on transfers ( most of the guys I buy from are LEOs or retired LEO).
