Taurus PT145 (Mil. Pro) goes to the range . . .

Many of them seem to shoot low -- mine did, too. I carefully filed the top of the front sight down a tad and it's now shooting dead on, i.e., POA = POI.

The 145s all shoot low. Hmmmm, guess you should have bought a 745.

My PT145 was right on the money out to 25 yds or so.

I wish they had a dovetailed front tie, but they do not. My FS came loose as well. had to put locktite on it once a yr os so. Other than that...no probs.

Just Purchased and went to the range.

I purchased my PT145 3/1/2007 and took the gun to the range sundayy 3/4/2007. What a blast the gun is. I my wife and I fired 200 rounds through the gun with no problems.

i went and purchased an SOB holster. What a great gun. I normally was carrying a taurus 38 special in ultra light, but I had concerns about stopping power and only having 5 rounds. The PT145 has now replaced my old 38 special.

I also have the Taurus 24/7 in 40 cal. That is another super gun.

just picked up and fired mine today

Well i am pretty novice to the handgun world, and i picked my taurus 145 up today and took it right to the range. I had read the handbook before just to make sure i knew where al lthe safety and stuff were located. I got about 50 rounds off and then the next magazine i put in did not fire. The trigger felt spoungy then i unloaded the chamber and threw another mag in and same thing am i missing something here? I didnt clean it before using i wasnt aware of it. So i brought it home to clean it up good hoping she will work again.

Changing the subject...

As already noted here and elsewhere, some PT145s shoot a tad low like mine did. I installed this HiViz fiberoptic front sight designed for a Hi Power and now POA=POI.

new to forum and pt 145

Bought a used pt145, eats ammo well no compliants there, but am having front sight issues with mine too..my model has a dovetail front site, when you tighten the set screw that holds the site in place it pushes the front of the site up off the slide, meaning you can see light between the slide and sight with the largest gap being at the front edge of the site, this will make the gun shoot low, I dont know if the site bottom is to small or the grove on the slide is to big but there is to much "wiggleroom" there. Williamson Gun Sites makes a site for the dove tail version of this gun, I am thinking of tring that...did the Hi- Power site set screw hole line up correctly? Not sure what to try here...but I love the feel of this pistol...

Wow never seen one, so it is a tight fit sliding in and stays in place? Ok looked up HiViz on the web i understand how it works now, why did you go with the one for the Hi Power? Was it the "closest" fit? And did you have a gunsmith install it?

Initially, the HiViz sight was a little too loose in the slide dovetail. I located one of my old, unused feeler gauges that I didn't need any longer. I found one of the blades that I thought was the correct thickness to use as a shim and cut a small piece off using tin snips. I put the slide in a padded vise and hammered the new sight/shim in with a stout brass punch. I did use a drop of RED Loctite in the dovetail just for added security.

It probably took me about 30 minutes for the complete project from beginning till end.

Glad to hear the reports.Nice to hear this kind of thing. There's a Taurus Porn thread at Taurus Armed.com for those interested in such stuff. There are more guns shown in that thread than art museums have art to show.:what::D

As for the low hits with a PT145. Either the lighter 185 gr-200 grainers can be used or the sights can be lived with. There are some after market sights that could replace those on the guns know.

Is the six o'clock hold being used or the dead on the bullseye point of aim being used?

Have ya'll had ay problems with the sights on the 3rd gen. pistol? After shooting about 100 rounds through mine I had to take it to Gander mountain to get the front sight tightned back down. Now I have to aim 2-3 inches high to hit center mass. I am looking at replacing the sights but am unsure of which ones to get in fear of buying crap.

My Gen 3 PT-138 had the exact same problem. Why did you take it to Gander Mountain? All you had to do was remove the slide, remove the set screw, apply some LocTite and put it all back together.

Also, make sure your rear sights are installed correctly. The adjustable rear sight blade was installed backwards on mine from the factory...

I've shot about 500 rounds through mine - zero problems. I've shot Blazer ammo through it with no problems. I'm going to start handloading - found a good source for brass - I think anyhow.

Good luck with yours - I sure do love mine.

Y'all did it

I want one of these...this thread has made it happen...Well not JUST this thread.

I like the looks, the price, and the 10+1 .45 ACP in this little gun...I am willing to try it out for sure.

You won't be sorry. I have had my DAO PT145 MilPro for a few years now and have never had an issue in 2000+ rounds.
