So I bought a Taurus PT1911 last week and after 125 rounds the extractor broke. Taurus is sending me a new one but I'm not sure I can trust it. My question is will Wilson Combat parts fit in my Taurus. I've heard that they won't and that they will. Any insight would be appreciated.

I had two Taurus PT 1911's and put Wilson Bullet Proof Extractors in both of them without any problems. I also put a S&A backstrap\magwell in both with no problems. That's the only parts that I wanted to replace and they worked just fine.

Put the Taurus part in and put some rounds through it. 125 isn't even the beginning to tell if a gun is going to be reliable for me anyway. Get it at least past 500 rounds first before making a decision on whether the gun can be described as "reliable". If you break the second Taurus extractor, then buy an aftermarket Wilson and you'll be fine.

Ditto what Olympus said. Put in the Taurus extractor and see what happens.

Check out the old threads from Tuner and Old Fuff regarding proper tension of a 1911 extractor and have at it.

If I were to buy one, it would be a Wilson BulletProof. If I were given a free replacement, I wouldn't buy one.

If you are going to buy an aftermarket extractor, make sure you get a Series 80 extractor. Taurus 1911's have a firing pin safety.

Alright guys thanks for the input, I will try the factory extractor when it gets here.

You probably just got a bad one; I've put over 5,000 rounds through mine, and the only thing I ever replaced was the recoil spring. Not because I needed to, either, I just wanted a stiffer one.

Same thing happened to me with my Taurus broke the extractor twice and the safety started locking the slide closed with a loaded round in it. Spent more time at the factory then with me. I put about 720 rounds through it altogether. :cuss: I thought about switching the extractor or extractor, but I didn't trust it enough to waste my money on it.
