Taurus TX22 for training

I picked up one of these last Spring and have used it as a training gun for semi-automatic pistols, notably Glocks. But I think they get the basics down on any striker fired pistol. Magazine loads the same, sight picture and trigger control the same, and it helps with that annoying "yank" that develops when starting a person with the BANG! of a 9MM, .40, or .45.. With ear protection the .22 just gives a crack. On another note the TX 22 has malfunctioned once with a .22 CCI HP in about 2000 rounds of CCI and Remington Golden Bullet. .

I agree. It’s a really nice 22. Can’t go wrong for $200. I know some early ones had barrel or leading issues, but I like mine a lot

Have you checked the inside of the slide where the recoil assembly sits? My TX22 lasted about 4500 rds before the slide cracked. If you're seeing any ware on the inside of the slide I would recommend that you replace the recoil assembly with an ' LAKELINE LLC TX22 RECOIL ASSEMLY which has been released recently.

I think Taurus is still getting the bugs sorted out on these things. The only credible complaints about the current lineup Taurus seems to be in reference to the TX22. As is the case with most new to the market pistols, I'll wait a couple of years for all the beta testers to finish their testing, and for Taurus to fix any design flaws.

The TX22 barrel issue has been going on since it was released and it still hasn't be rectified, They have been promising customers new replacement " Chatter free " barrels for 8 months now. When I got my TX22 back after 9 weeks the problem recoil assembly was not replaced, Taurus said they fired 32 rds of CCI MINI MAGS with no problems. When I removed the new slide you could see where the recoil assembly was already gouging the inside of the new slide. I don't think Taurus gives a rats butts about the TX22 issues and will try and get away with it for as long as they possibly can.

with a mag capacity over ten rounds the tx22 is sadly off limits to too many folks.

I picked up a TX-22 back in September.
No leading barrel.
Functions great.
After the weather got cooler below 20°F it developed a wandering rear sight adjustment problem.
The detents jump on recoil.
You can adjust the sights so they are spot on.
Yet by the time a single magazine is empty the sight has gone outta wack.
So far it was great before the sight problem.
Reliable feed, fire, eject.
Mags are hard to load with cold fingers.

I have the same issue with the adjustable rear sight - won't hold zero. Other than that, my TX 22 has been a solid gun.

Ed Harris said he would adjust a sight to zero, then soak it in epoxy.
