Taurus TX 22

I am looking to get a .22 pistol . I have been hearing good reviews on the Taurus TX22 . I like the size and weight of it . I will just be using it for plinking and for the young kids to practice with . What do y’all think about it ? I am looking at the standard model , not the competition model .

Have had my TX22 a couple years now. A fun, dependable and great little plinker.

Had mine for a week and have put a couple hundred rounds through it.Pistol is reliable and surprisingly accurate.I like it very much.Rear sight is a little cheap looking, but it works.

Just picked up a Sig P322 and getting a FN 502 soon. Specifically would get a TX22 compact if I find one.

Gut tells me that the Sig P322 is going to be a winner with 20 and 25 round mags.

Btw is it just my part of the country or is it hard everywhere to find the TX22 Compact? I know you can get it on GB or other sites but it just is not in LGS or even local big box sporting stores and gun ranges. Cabelas, for example does not even list the Compact on their national web site.

My LGS has 1 for $400 and my local Rural King has one last time I was there for $330. I want one but have other guns to pay for first. I hope they hit the $300 mark by then.

Yeah me too. I think I will wait until after I get the Sig Sauer P365. By then they may be available locally.
I learned that they just came out Jan. of this year so Taurus is probably having trouble keeping up with demand given how popular the full size TX22 is.

My LGS has one for $350, looked at it today. Only reason it didn't come home with me is I have a Trap gun I want to pay off tomorrow. But I definitely will be getting one soon.

I have one and I love it. 100% reliable through thousands of rounds now (how many .22lr semiautos can you say that about). It is accurate, and it is a lot of fun to shoot (I didn't used to like .22 pistols all that much). Shortly after buying it, it inspired me to finally buy the S&W 317 revolver that I'd wanted for years for about 3 times the cost. Guess which one comes with me to the range when I only take one? I bought it because I figured I should get a .22 with ammo prices being what they are and it was cheap and seemed to be well liked by reviewers, I didn't expect to love the gun.

I like it so much, I'm thinking it might be fun to add the Tx22 Compact as well.

When I started this thread I was actually thinking about the compact version but after seeing so many positive comments I'm thinking maybe go ahead and buy the standard version.for one thing I can actually find it locally for another it's not like I'm going to be using it as a compact concealed anyway and the extra magazine capacity of the standard version plus the standard version is cheaper

Having the Sig P-322 w/ Remo-0 sight has been 100%. Not ammo picky and very accurate. Highly recommend it. With about 3K rounds so far. Has feel very much like the Sig P-320 and P-365XL

The compact version has the optic riding the slide, which I believe is the main draw. Personally not as interested in the regular, very interested in the compact and would pick up the competition if the price was right.

I bought the standard model a couple weeks ago,and for the most part,I've been happy with it.It had a few hiccups on cheap ammo during its first time on the range.I took it apart and gave it a good cleaning and oiled it up good. After that,it's been great.Except the rear sight. It uses a cam screw to raise and lower the rear sight and it won't stay put.If I raise the sight to be dead on at 15 yards and shoot it,after five or so shots the sight drops down and it's 4 inches low.Very chintzy indeed.I took it off and slathered the cam in red thread locker. If that doesn't work,I'll buy a new sight setup for it.It's accurate enough and has the same feel as some of my other striker fired guns so I can use it for practice if I can get the sight problem fixed. They seriously need to do something to fix it.

I haven't read any other complaints about that problem maybe you just got one made on New Year's Eve

The trigger of the Sig is okay, but the Taurus are better. I got lucky with a 322 that doesn't have the leading issues a lot of folks have reported, but it does tend to light strike here and there. I used the same box of Aguila, (which have never given me problems) in my 322 and TX compact last week. My 322 was light striking here and there, my TX ran like a champ. I've only got about 1k through my TX compact, but it has not yet malfunctioned. It is my favorite .22. I did have an FN 502 for a while, no issues to report, but I prefer the striker fired TX over it, the trigger reset is kinda long on the 502.

Interesting. Really enjoy monkeying around with 22LR. Still seeing both a TX22 compact and FN 502 in the cards.
