I'm considering getting into black powder hunting and want to know, given the listed gun with 150 grains of pyrodex is the above shot on a white tail humane and reasonable assuming I can do my part.
Humaine-possibly,doable-possible, would I do it; No. If I was using a 300WSSM a 30-06, or a 7mm, yes, I've shot all 3 at distances of 300yds+ and can keep shots in a plate at that range. Shooting a heavy relatively slow slug at that distance consistantly is much more chancy, I've seen B/p rifles shot at 200 to 400yds at matches, but these were tricked out with shooters that shot those distances often. They read the wind and know the difference that temp, altitude and humidity can have on the large slugs. This is just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth.
Triple 7 or Black Horn 209 would give you much more velocity, but 300 yds is quite far. Even with spitzer styled bullets with higher BC's the trajectory is a rainbow.
