Well, you should be able to guess

by looking at my sig file, even if you have little Latin and less Greek, as do I.
I think it means something like "correct name". I agree with Confucious, who is reputed to have said that before we can even begin to talk about anything, we must first call it by its right name. As in, "They're not bullets, they're cartridges!", "It's not an assault rifle, it's an ugly carbine!" , "It's not a light bulb, it's a lamp!" etc etc.

Well, yes I am:rolleyes: , AND I enjoy shooting little targets far away though I am no longer very good at it. While shooting one day this year, at our local range, I was asked if I had ever tried out for a job as a sniper (local or state police). I said no....

The wife thinks we should have a years supply of ammunition as well as a years supply of food.... Isn't she an angel?

Retired, US Army (10 years now). Daughter is currently serving in the US Navy (recently returned from the Iraqi conflict). Yep, proud Dad I am , She is (I believe) 5th generation military in my family linage.

shameless plug www.mormon.org;)

Be Prepared:scrutiny:

This one is kinda simple

My name is Joe Goodwin and I'm a big fella. It's just a cool way to spell my name. If you say it fast it sounds right!

Grandkids started calling me grampster. I liked it. Everybody calls me that now. I am a hockey nut too, and have my screen name on my hockey sweater that I wear to the games here in my hometown....Grand Rapids Griffins.....primary farm club for the Detroit Red Wings.

A combination of the words Synapse (from the movie Anti-trust) and Optic (as in Fiber Optic). I thought I had made it up, until about 2 weeks ago when I saw it written somewhere and found out what it meant. I am slowly transitioning away from it now, but it is difficult cause I was using it everywhere.

Hmmm .. could have been me guilty of blowin that one away for ya ... sorry!:p I wrote up the report on our PA Fall shoot as a ''synoptic''!

But anyways ... from where I am .... it is still a good and viable handle ...... different, unique ...... it's yours and I reckon you should keep it! Doesn't matter the ''how'' and ''why'' as to the inception of it!:)

My other hobby is High Power Sport Rocketry, another one that makes fire, smoke, and loud noise.
And yes, that hobby is also oppressively regulated by the BATFE. :cuss:

Well started out on this board as Lone Gunman, since you feel pretty lonely if your into shooting in the UK :uhoh: but it was pointed out that a long time user of the board already had lone_gunman so changed to my amateur radio call sign.

Brigrat: When I was in the USMC I spent most of my time WORKING in the Brig. No, I was not locked up!!!

You may also see me on other boards as Nukerat, as I am currently The Nuclear Security Operations Supervisor at a Decommissioned Nuke Plant. Fun Fun Fun!!!

That explains the Nuke, and Brig parts, I am not sure where I got the rat part.

North American Arms of Provo, Utah made my mini .22LR, which
has turned out in the last decade to be about my favorite handgun.

Thanks P95Carry. Actually, I do think it was your fault :D Nah, I mentioned it to my girlfriend and she was like "You mean you didn't know what that meant?!?!" and gave me a nice hard time about it. I'll keep it where I've got it, and I'll continue to run at my LAN parties with it. But it's about time for a new name anyways...

care-less, Two meanings depending on my mood or what we are talking about: first is that I have no worries or cares; second is that I really could care less.
