Tempted to buy a Glock 23

It's only $450. Just do it. If you decide you don't like it, you probably wouldn't be out but $25-50 selling it used.

I am considering purchasing a 2nd Generation Glock 22 police trade-in ( Detroit P.D. ) It comes with 3-15 rd. mags. It will cost me right at $370. I have never owned a Glock before. Is the cost too much for a used 2nd Gen. Glock? The Glock will allow me to retire ( almost ) my old 1917 S&W revolver. I have never liked the looks of the Glock, or the way it feels in my hand ( like a board ). They have no character. But their reputation for dependability has won me over. Should I go with the trade-in 22, or let it pass and get the newer Gen. 3? Thanks for the info.

It's basically the same size as my G19. Which makes it an excellent pick. The whole Kaboom thing has to do with using lead bullets in your gun. The theory being the unique rifling of the Glock pistols get's leaded up fast with the lead bullets. The .40 is a high pressure load to begin with. Leaded rifling in the barrel plus a high pressure cartridge no good. What he meant was if you want to shoot lead you need to buy an aftermarket barrel with regular rifling.
I tend to stay away from the .40 anymore. Have seen 6-7 blow up. Two were Glocks. The rest were SIGS, Kahr's and a couple of others. Almost all of them blew from bad handloads. If you use fmj rounds for practice and JHP's for defense you should be fine.

I like the size of the 23 (it is my carry gun), and the second gen doesn't have the light rail, which can be very useful. A vote for the 23.
