Howdy folks. Today, my oldest daughter turns two. I'm hoping that rather than the "terrible twos" you always hear about, she will begin the Tactical Twos. Before you start shaking your fists and cursing me, I know she's too young to start shooting real guns. My question is about EyePro and EarPro. Where do can one get eyes and ears for a two year old? I really want to take her to the range with me so she can start getting used to it as a normal thing but I don't want her to be like me asking, "Pardon?" every time someone speaks to me. What does THR have on this topic?

The best thing I would suggest is to use ear plugs, rather than trying to get ear muffs on her. For her eyes...that will be a little harder. I am sure you can stop by a local optometrist to see if they have/make safety glasses for kids. Remember, they can just put a non corrective lense in the frame. Even if they are regualr kids glasses, its better than nothing.

I asked my ENT about kids hearing protection for a 5 & 7 year old. He said their ear canals would out grow custom pour plugs every 1-2 years and would be better than even the youth sized headsets because of fitting issues. My kids will be going to the ENT for plugs in a couple more weeks.

Buy a pair of the small, relatively cheap muffs that have the headband that can curve around them for storage. They store compactly and fit small heads. My daughter is noise sensitive and I got them for her to wear when I'm working with power tools and she's about. I figure it can't hurt to get her used to wearing them ...

What about those foam squishy plugs for ears? I'd check safetyglassesusa.com for eye protection.
