Received a new factory rifle and after inspecting the bore w/bore scope, figured this is probably a great opportunity to give Tactical Advantage a thorough test. Bore was definitely not a Shillen or Hart, or a........ It had a healthy coating of copper and after a dozen or so strokes of JB paste, followed by TA revealed a number of shallow pits and scratches common to most factory barrels.
Decided to forego my usual barrel break in and try a different approach. Fired 29 rounds developing loads and getting a zero and scoped the bore. From left to right throat -->crown @ approximately 3" intervals --> gas port :
I then made 6-8 strokes w/IOSSO nylon brush wet w/Tactical Advantage and let it soak for one hour, then dry patched:
Not bad, most of copper was gone but some carbon fouling remained. Gas port came clean. Decided to give it ten strokes w/wet nylon brush and let it sit overnight then dry patched. (Since gas port came clean, omitted that photo on rest of the steps) :
Trace of copper left @ crown, most carbon gone except in the flaws in the bore. Probably should have stopped here, but in order to give the TA a full test.........continued next post---->https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...advantage-iosso-nylon-brush-continued.856666/
