Your vids have been a great resource for me since getting into black powder and single action revolvers.

Since the passing of my "gun mentor" ... the guy who turned me on to all things single action (as well as double action) and black powder...your videos, along with some postings and encouragement from some members of a couple of internet boards have continued the education where he left off.

For that I am truly greatful.

Keep up the good work and thank you.

-Mike

Keep throwing those vids up there, Mike. We all learn from them - even if it's just to stack the water-filled milk jugs farther from the firing position, LOL. Seriously, you can think of it in another way..... the "d-bag" types and the weight Nazi's out there will NEVER be after your guns; because they were to busy spreading their trash to learn how to load a BP weapon! Their loss.

"Fishing for compliments?" I think not. I'd wager that I speak for all here that we understand that you recognized Civility that it is not a lost trait and the lack of it will not be tolerated here on the High Road......Thank God.
Your videos are well thought out, very instructional , and very entertaining. Thank you.

Mike, I read and enjoy your magazine articles, your postings and your videos. I've put on a little weight myself over the years and I still do cowboy reenactments (bank robberies and festivals and such) still ride my horse, still do some movie extra stuff, still preach and sing, hunt and fish. In other words, while I'm older and wider (instead of wiser) I still live life, not in my parents basement playing video zombie games and pretending to be a mall ninja.

I have been blessed to have served other as an LEO and EMT, now I serve the Lord. So I have been cussed, used and abused many times, but I have always found that your true friends will stick with you and speak highly of you and the shallow minds will resort to their education level (or lack of one).

Be yourself, shoot 'dem guns! I learn from you often! and God Bless!

To explain stupid is just as much fun as proving a negative. Consider the source and be done with them.
Your help and knowlege has helped me so very much. Thank you.

I enjoy everyone of your videos. They are of professional quality, educational and enjoyable. Pay no heed to the monkeys in the peanut gallery. Keep up the good work.

The High Road is the only forum I regularly frequent.

I've had at least a handful of nasty PM's from folks old enough to know better right here on THR.

Me too. I bide my time and poof the disapear. We have a higher standard than most.

Good Grief!

We're black powder shooters. I've shot beside BP shooters over most of this country - and at nine World Championships, beside BP shooters from all over the world.

Almost every one of them is as decent as a person can be. You have a few jerks, but it's less than 1%.

Duelist
Keep up the good work and dont worry about those trolls
you can set it up to where you can delete the trolls replys.
however I dont have any problem going over there and stooping to those fools level and give them both barrels. I am sure there a few others here that feel the same way as I do.
I got your back!

Sometimes Youtube is just like that, I get these kinds of comments all the time. I'll have my videos up of the BP guns I made and I get these punk little kids who don't speak proper English at all post these comments on the video. They are usually asking me to do a video on how to make one, but it isn't written like this:
"Sir, I really appreciate your work, good job. Would you mind doing a video on how you can make one of these pistols when you have the time?"

It's written more like this:
"yo cna u make a tut for teh gun"

I'm not going to tell someone who types like that how to build a gun, I would feel uneasy trusting them with more than a few empty shotgun hulls.

Mike, you keep up the good videos!
I fired those nail-and-dowel loaded .410's today out of my friend's shotgun, we had a blast shooting them! :D If I hadn't have stumbled upon your video on how to do that I wouldn't be having this much fun shooting trap with BP! :)

I'm really sorry to hear the negative comments Duelist, I've seen most of your videos and really did appreciate them, only a fool would say anything other than they are very inspiring and interesting. I'd tell them turkeys to go pound sand! But in a little bit more vulgar language they could understand.

This isn't really B-P specific, but I wanted to express my appreciation for the civility and maturity shown by members of this forum.

When I posted picture here of my 1851 Navy revolvers and the pictures were too large to be easily viewed, members told me so, but in a nice constructive way. Believe me, every place on the internet isn't that nice.

Here are a few examples of posts I've gotten on Reddit and on my YouTube channel. I'll edit the language for you all, but believe me, I got it full bore:

"Hey. Hey. You. Yeah, you. D-bag.
Post the make and model of the guns you're posting."

"you are truly retarded if you compare this to a 9mm a 51 navy colt would make a 9mm look like a spitball shooter"

"When you're "out in bear country"? Isn't that kind of far away from your snacks and recliner chair?"

"besides being a camera hog , the only thing duelist1954 needs to improve on is stashing himself a few more MRE's in that bandaid box...."

"I love when fat white men dress up in western clothing."

"Jesus, you need to lay off the french fries dude!"

"man you are one fat dude !"

"You are a f___ing fat f__k"

...well, you get the picture...

I really appreciate that there is none of that trash here.
Only thing I am urinated about, is when is the next video?

Mike, keep doing what you're doing. I for one, and I know many others appreciate your time and effort put into making those videos. I think it would be a kick to spend some time with you. Ignore those fools. They are irrelevant.

You're videos and busyhands94 are the ones I have watched time and again to learn about the dark side. Mike you are very respectful and knowledgable in guns. Thank you!!!

Quite interesting. As others have posted, the internet does offer a venue for certain individuals to bully and try to intimidate with limited recourse to call them to task for their actions. Hope the mods addressed this on the other forums.

The THR has always been one of my favorite gun forums. As with any source of information from the internet - the reader has to weigh what is said against personal experience. There are a lot of good info on the THR, and the Black Powder Forum, at least for me, is a cut above some of the other sub-forums. Great community of regulars post here. Still, you get all types, but it doesn't take too long to figure out who is credible and who is not.

duelist1954 - I've seen a few of your videos, and have found them to be well made and informative. Glad your on THR.

The anonymity of the internet really lets the bad part of some people shine through doesn't it.

I don't think you get that kind of stuff from real enthusiast.

I enjoy all of your videos, thanks.
Ya must be talking about the fools that would be too chicken poo to say any thing like that if they were talking to you face to face.

Real enthusiasts appreciate the videos

only internet trolls post that kind of garbage and youtube is full of internet trolls.

Everyone's a badass online.
Manners are, unfortunately, lost on most people under 30.
Levi is a great exception to the rule.
Mike, I've always enjoyed reading your articles and threads, and watching your videos.
Your videos are some of the VERY few I will watch on Goobtube.

I appreciate your knowledge and your willingness to share it.

Where did you get those stats?

I have something much better than stats. It's called vast personal experience. My work brings me in contact with a lot of people every day.

You seem to be offended. Does the shoe fit? If not, then why are you offended?

Mike, I'd love to spend a day burning charcoal with you and levi.
