General opinion:
An unfortunate aspect of society is that many people attack / demean / put down others for a variety of reasons...and they usually all have some common characteristics.
A major common characteristic is that they never pro-actively start positive threads of their own to contribute to the healthly mix of a Forum.
Instead...they sit back in the shadows and scan posts looking for anything they can find fault with in somebody elses threads / posts. And they are definitely not always young immature people...some old negative, bitter people do it a lot too.
I pity anyone who's life has slid down to that level, down to that mentality.

Specific opinion to the subject of the OP's informational videos:
I salute anyone who puts forth the personal time & expense building something, experimenting with something, who then freely shares it with anyone who might be interested, might be be able to learn from it, etc...keep up the good work!

I guess the real difference is we are fans of bp and fans of your work. I enjoy it when you post new stuff. The videos are awesome. most people on youtube are just there to find a cheap thrill and have no interest in what you post or write. We do though

Keep up the good work

Love your youtube channel, to tell the truth yours and old Hickok45 are the only channels that I subscribe to. Heck they are the only things on youtube that I watch when I am on the computer. As for th negative comments from others don't worry about them. You have a strong following that I believe out ways the negative bunch. (which I believe some of them are the same person with multiple screen names posting over and over again on the same vid or post = no life.)

Bump!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, I just got a comment on one of my videos that I think Mike would get a chuckle or two out of.
The video was on my homemade .22 blackpowder pistol, some guy went and commented:
"How do build cannon bullet"
I replied "Sir, that isn't even a sentence."

What the heck! Just goes to show it happens to all us gunnys on Youtube.
Anyway, I got a chuckle out of that. Don't know if anyone else did but I find that to be some funny junk.
No question, no statement, no grammatical sense, no appropriate answer to give. Just words taking up a whole comment on my video!

Some have no brain!

duelist1954's thesis in starting this thread was to point out the civility of THR members in commenting on other's posts. Unfavorable comments on the material in some posts do occur, but personal attacks are rare and not generally tolerated on this forum. duelist1954 used his experience on Youtube as examples of the opposite behavior in which some attacked him personally.

I personally took note of the fact that civility goes both ways. duelist1954 showed his humanity by simply choosing to not respond to those personal attacks; why drag yourself down to that level?

The comment you highlight above is not a personal attack, nor is it even an unfavorable comment on your video's content. It is simply a request for information. True, it's poorly constructed grammar, but the meaning is clear and not at all offensive; in fact, it could well be taken as a compliment that the poster wants to know more about your video.

English is a very difficult language to master. Many of the THR forum members who are born US citizens and wholly educated here cannot complete a post without spelling and grammar errors, a fact which is almost always tolerated. The construction of the post you highlight suggests to me that the commenter is using English as a second language; it's very common for those learning English to leave out personal pronouns.

I suggest a more civil response to the commenter would have been to answer his request and explain how the projectile was formed rather than belittle his grammar.
