DAdams - Does your trigger feel any different with the new sear? Let us know how it shoots.
The trigger feels about the same as prior to failing, which was coming along nicely. It may be slightly smoother because when the gunsmith removed the side plate the thing was dryer than Tucson in July. They may have blown out the metallic dust too that accumulates from the MIM parts smoothing out during dry firing a few hundred times. I had only put about 55 rounds through it prior.
The smith put a small drop of lube on a few key points so even if S&W didn't it needed at least some, albeit not much.
I'm hoping that's behind me and was an uncommon glitch. Certainly amongst all the new owners on this thread I haven't heard of any early failures such as mine. MTBF was going to catch up with one of the guns perhaps made on Monday sooner or later and it happened to be me.
Now if I can get my Kahr PM9 back and get a few hundred out of it w/o any more issues. I have had the handgun black cloud over me, which seems unusual as both were NIB. I'm trying to remain philosophical about it. :banghead:
RE: Crimson Trace Early Impressions.
Doing a bit of dry firing today and using the CT for target acquisition was a real eye opener. To know that when this is dialed in properly one will be able to point and shoot as soon as the target is valid and the way is clear (clear leather). Which could be a significant amount of time improvement in a real shooting event such as if the sights were actually needed. Better than just point and shoot without them by a long shot.
DomMega welcome to the club. I like the looks of the 442 as-well. Given the choice at the time I probably would have gone with it too, but didn't have the choice and didn't feel like waiting.
