The ammo shortage is real and my dad just realized it.

The entire ammo issue is way out of control. I just read that you cant get 223 ammo. Today went to the local gun shop and he had at least a dozen 100rnd boxes for sale and another 40 or 50 boxes of singles you could buy. We are the number 1 reason the shelves are empty. The same guy that use to buy a box here or there is now afraid and buying everything he can afford and then just stuffing it in a closet someplace. I know a guy who just spent his entire tax return on 223 ammo, I asked what type of gun he has and he said…… Haven’t picked one out yet!

Ya never looked at it like that.... 223 for $10 a box now vs $30 this time next year, but I didnt know guns prices were going down???

It is real alright. I live in Texas, and people here stockpile ammo like a fat kid with a free pass to the candy store. I ordered some 9mm WWB online, and it was supposed to backordered 2-3 weeks. After that 2-3 weeks was up, I just found out they backordered me another 3-4 weeks. Not thrilled about that at all.

I managed to find some out of town, but it was expensive stuff. $26 per box!!! But, I need something to tide me over until my stock comes in. Geez, I'm ready for the paranoia to die down.

I'm so glad my dad and I reload. Especially grateful that he casts many different calibers. I'm even happier that we've stocked up on all the components needed for many years worth of hunting and shooting. I personally have more Win 231 than I will ever be able to use in my lifetime.

Was just at Bass Pro Shop and well any rifle round you could want, but handgun ammo forget it! Well as long as the guy next door buys 500rnds every payday for no reason we are F*@#ing out of luck

I 100% agree with this!

Brings back memories of the AWB days when I'd stock up on mags for a gun before even buying it. I had hundreds of the things. I was one of the lucky ones who clearly saw the writing on the wall and ca$hed out my "hi-cap" mags while I still could.

I forget if it was this site or another, but a couple of months ago one fellow was complaining that he had managed to buy only 40 cases of 5.56 because "the hoarders were buying it all up."

in ct ammo is short bought a 22 conversion for my sigs save the 9 and 45 for better purpose

Its just crazy. Everyday people are out spending a ton of money on ammo. Some reason are very far fetched. If your stocking up for WW3 shouldnt you also stock pile food? Gas for your generator.......The only one I agree with is buy it now before the price goes up... I dont see prices getting much higher I do see taxes get much much higher on ammo thanks to BHO, this will keep it out of the hands of the criminals........Sure....

It's getting silly

I needed some .45ACP today. One gun store has a box of Blazer Brass (50ct) at $27.00 + tax! Luckily Wal-E-World had a few boxes left. They didn't have my Winchester 100ct box that I like but the Blazers were only $14.99 there. Still up from what they used to be though.

They guy at one gun shop told me that the gov is stopping all production of ammo other then 223 for the war. I asked Isnt Obamas plan to have the troups out by years end? Maybe Obama lied and he is a war monger and China is in our cross hairs!

I have noticed shortages but not to bad still can find rounds just have to look harder good deals however are out the window.

The gun shows are out of pistol ammo and the 223 they do have is spendy. The store shelves are empty. Luckly, when the prices started rising two years ago, I started stocking up to save $. I have enough ammo to last a few years and hopefully things will return to semi normal by then.

In my situation I'm the dad, and my son and I understand and appreciate the present demand for ammo.

We have agreed to buy components and reload, also stockpile store-bought ammo if we feel the need.

I sense that the federal government, meaning the administration we have today, will try to limit our supply of ammunition, rendering useless the weapons held by private citizens.

My familly plans to have ammo for that future.

a gun store near me has about 25 500 round cases of wolf 223 for 199.00 a case, thats the best "bargain" ive seen in the last month or two.all wal marts are out of all 22,45,9mm,only 12 guage ammo & skeet/shotshells are plentiful.same gun store has 7.62x39 for 7.99 a box(wolf) blazer 9mm for 13.00 a box, too.this is the worst shortage ive ever seen, even in 94 there was no ammo shortages, only military rifles...

Again we need to look at what people are buying. My local gun shop told me before the panic he would sell maybe a dozen boxes on a good day. These days he sells up to 50 plus.... Hmm supply vs demand!

It's just panic buying that is doing most of it. That, and distributors that are holding back to jack up the price. By the time any anti gun legislation passes we'll all have 2 ARs, 4 AKs, grenades and 4000 rounds of ammo (reloads or otherwise) personally, I like the fact that the current wave of gun grabbers knows we are arming ourselves to the teeth. They've already started with the "militia" talk again. Hey Commies! 50% of America is a "dangerous militia"! Come get some!!

The problem is of that 50% only 75% of it voted. Now the current "problem" is in power for 4yrs!

My situation is the opposite. I would shoot all my ammo if
I could get my son to come with me. Never wants to shoot a firearm.

No doubt about it. That is the saddest thing I have ever heard. I'm so sorry for your loss.:(
