Now that BO has made his "war cry" for the AWB and Magazine limits someone needs to present a Bill to Congress.

My guess is that the Wicked Witch of the West (Senator Feinstein) will have hers out next week - you know she can't let NY be the worst state...

What I am really surprised about is that California has been too quite??? :uhoh:

Unless they have very short memories they should remember supporting the last AWB was like sitting on an ejection seat for Democrats.

Knowing they can't pass much through the House without a major fight, quite a few compromises and tons of publicity... I expect that they will hold off on the bans, try to win a majority in the House in 2014, pass the bans and since 2018 is a presidential election, they won't be as vulnerable to the lopsided mid-term turnout issues.

I agree - I don't think much will happen on the National level, but I do expect to lose more states like NY.

I'm waiting to see what CA. does - something is coming...

Ok, 2015 will be the Presidential election, with the transition being Jan 20th 2016. They won't hold off on the bans, they try every year this one won't be any different, and Obama has mandated they try. They will then try in 2013, and in 2014 and in every year after.

With Amnesty, they will also have a bunch of new voters.

Look at the executive orders

#1 is the most onerous. If you know of any veterans especially those that have suffered with PTSD and depression let them know to contact their senators immediately. The govt will force the VA to release their mental health records and I gaurentee that vets will be the first to suffer confiscation of their weapons and their rights.

Feinstein will propose legislation next Wednesday. Reid knows there aren't enough votes in the Senate to even get to the House where it would die. The problem for the Senate is if Reid calls for a vote(knowing it won't pass), then the Senators would all be on record as to how they voted without ever getting to the House. This could kill them at miderms in 2014---so they will be very hesitant to even vote on the proposal.

I would agree with those who said that an AWB will not happen until 2014 or 2015 - AFTER the Dems gain control of both Houses. Gawd help us if that happens.

For the time being, it's the State level AWB's that need to be watched. There are several out there.

There is very little chance of the Democrats gaining control in the House in 2014---they would need to pick up 17 seats---not likely at all. Even the NY Times cedes it won't happen.

Let's not forget that there are members of both parties that don't think "the little people" should have firearms and that you could see people "cross the aisle" to vote for an AWB. We shouldn't assume the votes will be purely along party lines.

Also remember that the last time the dems had congress, it was because they broadened their guidelines to allow more moderates. This was when 65 of them signed a letter saying that they would not support new gun laws. Of those 65 seats, 48 have changed hands. Of those 48, only 6 went to other Democrats. The rest swung republican. Having a Democrat majority does not mean AT ALL that they have the votes. If it did, they would have done this in 2009.

Let's also remember that the only way the last bill got through was the billions of pork that was attached to it. With the current fiscal climate and the scrutiny on this bill they probably can't pull that shenanigan again.

Not saying its impossible the bill could pass but its a different time now.

I don't think they'll get anything done to ban mags or guns. I'm done worrying about it. They can all bloviate for the next few months...I'm going fishing.

I have spoken to my reps face to face. I have converted antis to love guns. I have move my new in-laws from fence-sitters to enthusiasts. I have renewed my NRA membership, added my wife, and renewed my instructor status. I have placed many orders to Midway and donated the change to the NRA. I have helped organize and participated in range clean ups. All that's left to do is reload as well as I can with a broken arm and run around and pick up the pieces of falling sky you guys keep dropping.

2018 is a presidential election? News to me
The next one is Nov 6th, 2016 and we are all counting the hours till it.

Exactly and we shouldn forget the flip side to this. There were Democrats who voted against the awb.

Lets not exile our fellow gun enthusiast brothers on the other side of the aile by rampant generalizations along party lines.

This is what they want, to divid and conquer...
