In no particular order...

  • Hogue replacement grips
  • A couple of cheapie soft rifle cases
  • Ammo cans

A little gadget that slips over the magazines for my MKIII so I don't have to push down on the little button with my thumb while loading 300 to 400 rounds of 22 in an afternoon.

Gotta be the new slide stop on my 1911. Actually just 4.95 plus another 5 or so for a set of cheapy files. I had (actually still have) a Norinco 1911 that I bought new. The only thing I ever did to it was buy a full length recoil spring guide 12 bucks, and replace the worn slide stop. When the slide stop quit engaging on an empty mag I picked one and the files up for a lark. Figured if I couldn't fix it as long as I just filed on the cheapo slide stop I was no worse off than I started.

10 minutes later I had a fully functioning gun that to this day outshoots every other 1911 I've ever owned. Including some NIB Goldcups.

I bought a Jimenez JA22 (Current incarnation of the Jennings J22) off of a coworker for $20-- he took it apart new and lost the firing pin retainer "cup" thingy-- I called Jimenez and they sent me a free one in the mail...I turned around about 6 months later and sold a new JA22 (paid $100), a J22 (free-- from another coworker), and the $20 JA22 he sold me-- get this--

I put them on a gun trading site (a local one) as "best offer"-- I got an offer of $350 from a local guy-- I didn't misrepresent the guns, and labeled as what they were-- he liked them, and I met him FTF-- got his info and a receipt of sale--

So I felt like I made out ok-- I wouldn't pay any money these days for one of those--
Do you still have this guy's contact info? I have a couple of FIE Titans I want to get rid off!

My finds

Garage Sale-A case of 12ga 7 1/2 shot, 4 boxes of .45lc, 2 boxes of .38 super, a box of .25acp and a box of .22 magnum, 20 bucks for all of it. The story I got was her husband bought the ammo and bought the wrong stuff for the guns he had. For 20 bucks, I was only half paying attention to her and trying to fill up the truck before she changed her mind.

Garage Sale-Set of 6 wrenches from 1 1/16-2", 1.50

Flea Market-J.H. Stevens Model 16 'Crackshot', 40.00, and I still haven't found out much about it other than it was made in the early 1890's and was one of the first few guns off the assembly line. Has a number on it that I was told was a sequential number from the early days for count purposes. Not sure of the validity of the statement, but the fellow seemed to know his stuff, or at least he faked it really well.

All 3 of those were exceptional finds, but the absolute, most useful purchase I ever made for under 20 bucks is a foodsaver vacuum sealer. Walmart had them on clearance for 18 bucks with a roll of the bags. That thing is worth it's weight in gold if you do a lot of hunting.

$10.00 for a Colt .45 1911 that had been buried in the sand in Florida for six years. (Yes, I was able to get it to shoot, and I still have it after 35 years.)

Game set & match to Artiz.

But seriously:

1. One-year NRA membership (in the 80s).

2. FJ "WinterSof" winter golf gloves for hunting & shooting in cool/cold weather.

3. Lithium grease / Breakfree

4. Any reloading die set (when can be found for that price)

5. how much is an ERGO brand rubber grip for ARs - they are worth it whatever it is

6. $18 Lowe's heavy duty tool bag - great range bag.

I'm sure I could go on and on....

I'm a member of the local Pink Pistols group and we set up a booth at Gay Pride every year. The best $20 was an Airsoft pistol which we use to attract people to do the booth and get them interested in shooting.

Best for under $20

Hogue Ar grip
boresnake
ammocan
.22 lr brick
spare 10/22 mag or other .22 mags
slings
tackle box for cleaning supplies
soft gun cases

A day at the range with family or friends.......PRICELESS

A refurbed .50cal ammo can.
HKS mag loader for my S&W .22a,needed a bit of modding but is an amazingly usefull item.

It definitely wasn't that 525 pack of bulk .22 from Remington that the bullets were so loose in the cases they flopped around and i was surprised they didn't just fall out.The worst part is they were $25 also.

Two box's of Federal 9mm fmj for $20 at Walmart last week.

Ive bought many aftermarket rubber grips and cant stand them on a ccw gun.On a range gun they are great tho.

$9 i spent on a pair of Bocote 1911 grips from zipsgrips.com on ebay sold as seconds due to being 1/16" of an inch off in width.

Let's see, < $20 has got me:

(1) Kershaw Scallion NIB
(5) FAL magazines
(1) set of Hogue non-fingergroove grips for my Sig P220
(1) genuine SIG mag
(2) Ballester-Molina .45 mags
(2) FAL slings, NIW
(1) box 550-rd Federal .22 LR ammo
(50) pounds of "hard" lead that a large portion turned out to be 90% Tin babbit metal
(1) brick of primers
(1) pound of Varget
(1) RCBS primer pocket swage set

I could go on. That $20 magic number is great.
