The best CCW gun....

It depends on how much recoil you can handle and how much clothing you've got to hide the gun under.

Here are my two CCW's

I have 500 rds. through the 642 spread out over five range sessions and 225 rds. through the G-26 which, was fired through the gun the first time out at the range last week. I'm still waiting on the Cover-Up Plus tuckable IWB holster from www.tuckergunleather.com for the G-26. The 642 is being carried in a Milt-Sparks PCH-R1. Here is a pic of the two together. I hope to have the G-26 take over as my primary CCW as soon as the holster comes in and put a few more rds. through the gun.

Best concealed carry gun.

The best concealed carry gun is a Glock 30. Compact, lightweight, and eleven +P 45ACP hollowpoints. The best deep concealment gun must be much smaller, yet as powerful as possible. I feel that the best deep concealment gun is the Kel-Tec P3AT 380. No other gun is as powerful and yet so tiny and light-weight.

p239 in 357 SIG

its a hand full in full power loads like 1425 with a gold dot.small and it's all that to .shot a groundhog with it blew its guts out it stopped on the spot, thanks, keith

I used to carry a P7 or 1911. Carry it day in day out for years and I've come to appreciate the lightness, ease of carry and concealability of a S&W340PD. Loaded with mid-range 357s and I figure it hits hard enough if I should ever need it.

I think you made a great choice 357wheelgunner. A Taurus seven-shot 357 Tracker 4" would be another, IMO.

Ala Dan, et. al make a valid point about the first rule of the gunfight. "Have a gun!" Leaving the hand cannon at home because it is inconvenient to carry will not help when the chips are down.

But after someone threatened me and my family sometime back, I decided that carrying a little larger ccw was worthwhile in return for the extra capacity, caliber, and sight radius. I settled on the G21 with 14 (or 11) rounds of quality 45 ACP with decent velocity due to the long barrel and polygonal rifling. I sometimes have to remind myself that if I ever need my ccw, I will wish I had "more" gun with me.

This is a very personal thing, and each of us is responsible for making his/her own decision. I do enjoy hearing about the decisions folks have made, and why they made that decision, even if it is not for me. Something to think about, and who knows, I might decide I agree and change my ways. But even if I don't change, it is interesting and instructive.

Whatever you have decided...

It is personal, and we had better be competent with it, and have it if needed.

When I have a choice, a Hi Power or 3" to 4" Smith revolver are all equally comforting, and a J frame is too good not to have around.

And I used Ala Dan's trademark choice myself for a few years. ;)

Luckily, we don't get attacked as often as we might, but when it does happen - it becomes too often.

P228 Works For Me

P228 w/ 124 gr GDHPs in a Mikes Old World Pancake holster continues to be the choice

Depends,

Sometimes I pack my M1 Carbine FOR "defensive" shot's up to 100 yards, while other times my BBR .30-06 is a better option for 100-300 yard precision "defensive" shot's, of course. I tried packing my 30" full choke A-5 for shorter range but the barrel stickes out of my pant leg too far, dag nabbit.

It's just not sporting not to give the BG a running start befor you pick him off and, it's much more entertaining.

:neener:

What do you think the best full-time (just one gun for CCW) is?

So far for me it's the P7M8. Always have my eye open for something else though.

cheers

Bersa Thunder 45

I can't tell someone else what to carry. For me a Bersa Thunder 45 works for me. Yes, I know it is a cheap gun. It is in fact reasonably priced , light weight, compact, accurate, has a good trigger pull, and it is reliable. Try one, you might just like the Bersa Thunder 45. Regards, Richard :D

At present mine is a S&W Bodyguard, carried in front pants pocket. Sheriff Jim Wilson calls such a gun his "anywhere gun". I'm considerling my Commander under a photo vest, but I need to get in a lot of practice before I'm comfortable carrying it cocked & locked. In the past, I've carried it in a waist ("fanny") pack

Simple. The one that you have decided is the most comfortable, that balances what you have determined as adequate power for your needs and concealability. Most of all, one you will have with you at all times.

After reading one of Ayoob's CCW articles recently (nothing new, but good refresher), I'm giving serious thought to the IWB under a "photo vest".

He made the point that a vest will only say "gun" to other carriers and some police. With a permit, no issue, and may deter some goblins. Also, in the summer here in AL, carrying stuff in pants pockets can be uncomfortable, so it serves purpose other than covering gun. The biggest point, of course is that I can pack a much bigger gun than my pants pocket can.

The best CCW for me? Until relatively not long ago, I thought it was a Kahr K40 or a CZ-75 PCR. But one day I tossed them both in the melting pot and, lo and behold, out came a Sig P229 in .40 S&W!

Put another way, the P229 is the perfect midpoint in a range of qualities that are best for ME...

9MM and .45 ACP.
Concealability and Capacity.
Compact and Full Size.
P225 and P220.

you could never go wrong

with a p229 it will do just anything ex big game hunting.for ccw the p239 in 357 SIG is also great, thanks, keith
