The BEST looking revolver in the joint >>

Got this one today!

I picked up a S&W K-22 probably made in 1951. This wheelgun bug seems to have hit me hard! Now I have a 4" M66 (1978?), a brand new 1 7/8" 638, and now this K-22 with a 6" barrel. Haven't got a chance to shoot it yet, but hopefully I will tomorrow after work.

Maybe not the best looking but worth a glance. A pair of old model Ruger Single Sixes.

Nice looking OM JMB. What caliber is it? Who did the work?

No kidding, that blueing makes me wanna cry.

I think I can make out the camera being used by the photographer on the cylinder and... an anteater(?)... maybe an elephant... in the clouds.

Thanks for the compliments. It used to be a .357, now its a 44spl. Andy Horvath did all the work except for the grips. Grips are sunburst/crotchwood Maple Burl by Scott Kolar.

Here's the only DA revolver I own. Picked it up today from a gunshop in Springfield, OH as part of a package deal. Would someone please tell me what model this is? Never owned a Smith before, and is there a site where I can look up the serial to see what year it was made? Seems to be ok mechanically, just ugly.

Swoter, I'm a S&W neophyte but it looks like that revolver would have a few stories to tell :what: Is the barrel blue, while the rest is nickel or stainless? What caliber and barrel length? It looks like either a J-frame (5-shot) or short-barrelled K-frame (6 shot) but I can't tell from the pics. When you open up the cylinder, is there a model number (e.g. 36 or 10-2) stamped on the crane? Many knowledgeable folks over on the smith & wesson forum, and if you post most of the serial number (leaving the last couple characters as "xx", someone over there can tell you when your revolver was made.

Here's a useful list of the various models and engineering changes (-1, -2, etc.) for S&W revolvers

Please let us know what you learn about it.

Out of my small collection, it's a toss up which looks best.. to me, anyway...

It's either the 6-1/2" 629-4 Classic, with Weigand fiber optic site...

Or, the 3" Model 29-3, Lew Horton..

my 16 year old S&W Model 686 357mag. This is back when Smith put an A+ polished finish on their SS revolvers. Also, no stupid key lock and sub-standard finish. Grips are original S&W Goncalo Alves (no longer made, protected wood) combat grips. Show me yours and let's see if it's nicer!!
Here's my early 1980's 4" 686:
