hey thanks DMK

got it as a handpick at AIM surplus... they told me on the phone that they expected to be out by the weekend of the quality ones so I scrounged the cash and drove there in person...

i used to live 2 blocks from the warehouse before i was ever into guns...

wish i wouldve got in to it earlier....

tell me about your vz 82....

good shooter? You like it?

i havent got the chance to pop off any rounds yet...

Yea, my vz82 shoot very nicely. I also have an East German Makarov so that's a natural comparison. The CZ has a more comfortable grip, better sights, obviously holds more ammo and I like the controls on the CZ better (mag release at the thumb instead of the heel of the grip, safety on the frame rather than the slide).

Both guns shoot accurately, but the CZ is easier to shoot well due to the better sights and more comfortable grip. Recoil is light with the Mak and negligible with the vz82.

The vz82 feels very much like a small and light recoiling CZ75.

My only complaint with the vz82 is the hump on the grip around the mag release. I suspect that was intentionally put there to make the mag release harder to get to in order to prevent accidental magazine drop (something European martial handgun designers seem fixated with).

I'd love to join this club! :)

Well, my fiancee surprised me with a graduation present (just about finished my bachelors in Chemistry) last weekend, a CZ-452 Special (same as Trainer/Standard) in 22LR.

You know, I've always heard how amazing these rifles are, they're super accurate blah, blah, blah. I figured they were probably nice, but some people probably had a little too much koolaid. Well pass the pitcher please, this thing is amazing!

The fit and finish on it is wonderful. Now that I've shot it a little the bolt is just butter smooth. And the stock trigger is oh so nice. I'm not sure that I even want to try and make it better it's so nice! :) After playing with this rifle, I'm definitely going to have to check out a PCR or SP-01.

And the iron sights, wow! I got the elevation dialed in for the rounds I was using, and it is deadly accurate. Clays at 75 yards are boring, they're so easy to hit. I managed to hit a 30-06 brass at 75 yards (after a couple of tries :)). Man, I'm looking forward to Saturday to get out and shoot it up again! :D

If anybody has been on the fence about a 452 (especially if you want to shoot with iron sights), stop thinking and get one!

Best present EVER.

The 30-06 brass tagged at 75 yards, with iron sights! These sights rock!

Chem Geek,

The CZ-452 is an OUTSTANDING 22LR bolt gun!

I've got a CZ-452 Scout and I put five shots into just under .3" at about 50' with open sights, using Federal bulk pack ammo. I really need to get a full size version!

You guys will find out that it's not the price of admission to the CZ Club, but how much you want to spend once you're in!

Welcome and enjoy!

Hey guys,

I'm getting my housing deposit back from the University this summer, since I'll be getting a house to live in.

I'm stuck on what to spend it on, though. I know I am going to buy a Kadet kit for my CZ75. But...

Do I want the threaded version or not?

I wont get a silencer anytime soon, by the time I get one I would be able to afford to get my kadet kit threaded, so I could easily just get the normal one.

What do you guys think?

That's what I'm thinking of doing. I'll save the silenced gun idea for a .22 rifle.

Comparison pictures, size wise, of my two CZs. A 97 and a 75. I don't know which I shoot better.

Cz P-01

Hey,

I have a CZ 75B and Rami Poly, both in 9mm. I'm thinking of adding a P-01 to the collection. I want something for carry with a decocker. I was wondering if anyone here had one and could comment on it in comparison to the 75B or the Rami. I love my 75B, but I do find the Rami a bit snappy and uncomfortable to shoot. It's getting better, but I may never be used to it.

Thanks.

I would love to have a 550 in 6.5x55. They look great.

Does anyone have pictures of their .22 Kadets?

expanded case

I went to my accountant's office the other day to get my taxes done. I grew up with this guy and somehow, we got around to talking about guns. Naturally, CZ was mentioned and he pulled an old cigar box from his bottom desk drawer. Inside was a czech pistol that belonged to his dad (who has been dead for around 40 yrs.). He said it was broken beyond repair and showed me a few casings that were grossly expanded and split starting from about half way up the casing. I thought, 'hot load' but knew his dad wouldn't have rolled his own. Also not sure the pistol was a forerunner to the modern CZ issue but it looked very much like the CZ 82. It has a mag release at the bottom of the mag well and a safety mechanism where the modern mag release would be. It had a mag break like the modern CZ's but also a mag safety. I know the description leaves a lot to be desired but I didn't have a camera.
Any ideas on what this pistol is or how the brass got so deformed?
