This is what I found a few days ago at CZ's official web site. They offer a new pistol based on the famous CZ-75 but it has a plastic frame. I don-t know about you guys but I think they should have stayed with steel.

News from Nuremberg [25.03.2008]

The period from the 14th to 17th March 2008 was significant for the 35th International Exhibition of Hunting and Sports Weapons, Outdoor Equipment and Accessories (IWA) in Nuremberg. The fifty exhibitors from all around the world were accompanied by the traditional participant, Česká zbrojovka a.s.

The arms manufacturer from Uherský Brod managed the successful presentation of its newly re-designed display, where the public were also introduced to the new logo and company colours. However, the main attention of visitors turned to the new releases.

The Czech manufacturer presented visitors to the IWA Show with the best items from its product range. Besides the CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom pistol, the display also included the CZ HA 550 Hunter. This is a new rifle designed on the CZ 550 platform. This rifle is designed for shooting at long distances. Its stock is made of premium walnut. The CZ 527 Exclusive is another new release – the EBONY EDITION represents a new generation of exclusive CZ rifles. The stock is made of a modern type of luxurious walnut finished off with ebony. Extreme hunting conditions may welcome another newcomer - the CZ 527 Synthetic.

This trade fair clearly showed that the dark horse of this year will be particularly the CZ 75 SP-01 Phantom pistol. This handgun is a version of the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical and provides for the further extension of the successful CZ 75 series. Its frame made of highly durable plastic ensures the lower weight of the “Phantom“. The exchangeable part of the frame grip strap allows individual adjustment of grips according to shooters various body proportions. The pistol is provided with a decocking lever feature. Both its parameters and characteristics pre-determine this gun to be used especially by the armed forces.

Česká zbrojovka a.s. also employs its distribution network to sell products of affiliated brands, DAN WESSON and BRNO RIFLES. The latter extended its range with the shotgun, combination gun and superposed rifle BO 801/BO 802/BO 803 and the BRNO EFFECT tip-up rifle. The year 2008 will further see this series of firearms with new designs.

I like this CZ 75 polymer variant much much better than their previous attempt...the CZ 100; :what: that model was stout, but ugly as all get go!

Kinda like the Beretta 9000 vs their later attempt in the PX4 Storm series

Not groundbreaking news..

That is the Polymer framed version of the SP-01. Some earlier pics surfaced last year from some Aussie CZ shooters.

It will be up to CZ-USA if we see that model in the states or not.
