CZ52 - EZ Trigger Fix

The trigger has to lift the FiringPin block as well as release the sear. The firingpin retainer spring has significant preload on it and reducing this will improve the trigger greatly. I discovered this while replacing a firingpin.
Remove the slide & turn it upside down to locate the firing pin retainer. Holding the bore upward press the retainer inward over a table. The firingpin should fall out. Be careful when loosing the retainer as it can fly away to neverland! One end of the spring is held in the retainer. Carefully cut off from the OTHER (or free end). You can remove about 3 coils or 1/8" from the spring without disabling the firing pin block. When you reassemble you will note a much smoother trigger... "DOC"

Anyone have experience with the CZ 50 and/or CZ 70? Only found a handful of prior mentions on the thread. If you know about both is one model preferable to the other? I've heard some not-so-good things about the 70 but I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Thanks.

I have been a member & didn't know...

I have been collecting CZ's since I first found a deal on a CZ52 with some Mil-surp ammo (almost 20 yrs ago). I loved that gun and had to find out more! I call CZ the Smith & Wesson of the Iron Curtain because of their long history of quality & well designed guns. (The "Older" versions). Of course CZ continues to produce excellent firearms & I will continue to own & shoot them.
I currently own 12 CZ pistols (& loading dies for them) which include the following.
CZ75BD, CZ82, CZ52 X3, CZ70, CZ50 X2, CZ27 X2 (one Nazi), CZ45, & a CZ Duo. Unfortunately I do not own (but am looking for) a decent CZ rifle. (There are few sources of these guns in our area of rural N Texas.)
I suppose this would qualify me as member of the CZ Fan Club if nothing else....
One thing I would like to know! Has anyone worked up a proper load for the 9X18 CZ82? The original Ammo had about 20% more power, designed exclusively by S&B for the CZ82 & called the "9mmVZ82" or designated '9mm vzor 1982' by the Czechoslovakian army. It used a 69g bullet over 4.8g of a powder called MDN-9 vz 82.

I own both versions. They are the same gun. Brought back into production by contract demand, the 70 had some minor improvements in the hammer & action but they are minor upgrades for easy assembly or to meet altered import requirements. I find mine to be as effective & dependable as my Walther PP's and since cheaper, I carry them more so as not to be concerned with wear or accident damage. CZ makes a fine gun with good quality & parts are readily available.. Neither is "Better" since they are the same in virtually all sense of the word... They might be picky about wide hollowpoints though! The feed ramp is steep & possibly not hardened enough on some. Mine all work fine w/ hydroshok but one belonging to a friends will not. Its ramp is scored but I believe its from him holding the slide & closing it slowly instead of letting it go like one should...?

Alright fellas, I need some help.

What CZ series pistol would be good for CCL?

I've got it down between a RAMI or a PCR, both 9mm.

docjim,

It sounds like you have a fine collection. Would you consider posting some photos?

Deer hunter, both are good. If you like cocked and locked, RAMI, if you like decocker, PCR. PCR is a bit bigger, 14 rounds. RAMI is smaller, 10 rounds with 14 round extended mags available. Also, RAMI is avilable in BD decocker model.
I carry a PCR with my PO1, great sidearm.

I love my CZ85 - an older model when it was still being imported thru Kansas City. Realizing some folks claim to be able to CCW a field howitzer and its crew - in front pocket, mind you - but I am having a difficult time carrying such things.

Been wondering the same thing about CZs for carry. My 85 might be carry-able under the right condiditions, but I'm wanting every-day carry. Oh, and I'm a southpaw - if an ambi safety is available it would be a bonus.

docjim, WOW!!!! After seeing that I'm almost too embarassed to post. I've got a vz-52, vz-82, CZ75B w/Kadet adapter and a P-07. Love them all; but I couldn't tell you which I like best. They are all great. BTW, I love the grips on the vz-52 in the bottom left; Hakan's by any chance?

PCR is an exxxxcellent choice for CCL.

My wife loves her new PCR. I like it, too!

Equally as reliable/durable as the better known P-01, but a bit lighter
to carry.

CZ 75 Champion Competition Pistol

In the 2010 Gun Digest annual edition, I noticed that CZ is listed as making a particular 9mm target pistol called the CZ 75 Champion Competition Pistol.

I approached a few gun shops in my area to see if they could get this pistol for me from their distributiors and the word back is that it was not available.

A search on GunBroker also reveals no results.

Can any of you CZ'ers comment on this particular pistol and its availability?

Thanks in Advance....

I have a 75 & a P-01 both in OD green & both 9's. And a RAMI in 40 cal. I want to get a CZ 82 with my C&R license.

New to the CZ family.

I have been wantinig an autoloaded for a long time, ever since I was given an old 1911 DA revolver that belong to my grandfather. On Tuesday I traded a rifle for the latest pistol to the family a CZ 82. I have never been so happy as I am now with this decision. Having read so many boards over the last 6 days and nights, my wife is getting all upset at me for not coming to bed becasue I am now hooked on reading everything I can find on the 82's and the rest of the CZ family I have to say I got the cream of the crop in this trade. :D

I have only fired 25 rounds through her at this time do to lack of $$$, all that will change once I find a job:cuss: All my girls from the wife to the youngest (13) have fire a couple rounds and each of them want one for now.

I have a wish list that is getting longer by the day, everything from the graphite grips to 2000 rounds so that I can take her out everyday since I can fire out in the back. I have seen some very nice pistols on here and can only hope that someday I do can add to my cz family.:)

I told my wife that the 82 feels as good in the palm of my hand as my p^^^s does just much more dangerous.;)
