Why did so many of the Top Shot guys seem to hate them? (only saw half or so of that episode, but that is what I seem to recall)
They probably had the junky Century builds. Plus like someone else said, thet were shooting it off of a narrow swinging board.

I like the monkey built older Century guns as they have a Imbel receiver and sell cheep. What most folks dont know is their made in Belgian $4500 gun is a Imbel.

Dude the rules CLEARLY state that photo needs to be with BARE TOES and hooch. Consider this your only warning.:neener:

PS- The buttstock is really nice lookin on that there FAL! Falklands you think?

Proper FALs aren't bought, they are built:

I have a century Frankenfal from back in the day, it has the thumbhole stock, an inch kit built on a metric Imbel receiver, its never missed a beat and is one of my favorite rifles.

Cause they didnt have time to get to know the gun and all are AR-15 guys.

The narrow swinging platform that didnt allow proper foot positioning to control the recoil didnt help.....

man,

i want a FAL so bad, but i am a complete noob at the system. im not sure where to start. i want something quality ($1,000-1,200 range) but i dont know if i should look at new DSAs or invest in a STG build. so many options too about handguards, furniture and suppressors and biods ect.

i really like the classic look of a black rifle w/ the wood buttstock. i guess i need to learn my history on these guns too.

any advise would be great. i love my M1A and the .308 rd, so just know im gunna love the FAL.

im gunna get one as soon as i know which one to get.

They are certainly fun. The FAL is the only rifle I reload .308 for currently, and is pretty impressive with some "match" quality handloads...

Imbel kit built on an entreprise receiver. DSA medium contour barrel. Built in '07 I believe. I need to build a few more...

Off the top of my head, I think they go about ten pounds empty. Strip the bipod off an STG-58 and you can shave off about another pound.
I've seen girls barely over a hundred pounds shoot them offhand without whining and ask for more ammunition when they run dry - so unless you're a ninety pound girl, you should be able to shoulder one without too much difficulty.

Original RSAF & BSA L1A1s

I got a good deal on two rearsenaled L1A1s when the UK govt. started selling them out of their inventories to civilians in mainland Europe

my worthless ARMS 3 mount....I've no idea if anything can be done to close the gap, I don't trust the quality of gunsmiths here in Luxembourg.

I would love to know what is the best way to mount a harris bipod on one of these. I know there is an adapter for plastic fore grips but no idea if it would be suitable....I've never done it before and don't want to spend money on something that won't work....any advice is most welcome :)

A.R.M.S. mounts are about the best, IMO. They are designed long so they can be hand-lapped from the front to fit the receiver, at least that is what my instructions said.

Don't know what the deal is with your receiver, but as long as the base fits solidly, you are good to go. That tab in the back is designed to put forward pressure on the mount to ensure tight fit.

BTW, FALs worked fine for NATO forces for many decades...they just don't like the sand of the Middle East...M4s don't either.

Have fired 'em including full auto, mostly in prone. I do like them but don't luv 'em. I have never been particularly interested in actually owning one myself. Reminds me of the G3...
